More multiplayer maps & features!

Post by IainMcNeil »

Hi guys

we have a lot of improvements and balance changes we want to test out with your help. The maps have all been tested and work but the balance may need some tweaking.

We have opened up the closed beta forum to everyone and you can access map packs in the open beta forum http://slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... 544#167544.

Good luck & have fun!

Just an additional reminder that any custom maps should go into your My Documents\My Games\BBCBA folder in the appropriate (Campaigns or Multiplayer) folder. 1.3.9 stops the game from displaying any misplaced folders when creating new multiplayer games, so should help with any misplaced campaigns.

Cheers

I see a new option to enable eas(ier) mode. My experience so far as I slog through the campaigns has been that I keep wanting the game to be harder. I find I can make it through to victory after one or two tries in most a a few more in a few.

I hesitated a long time about bringing this up because I knew it might come across as bragging (which I am not doing) & I wanted to have enough scenarios under my belt to feel justified in bringing this up. I know that multiplayer will be harder but I think the campaign could use some tightening up.

This is a great game & I really believe you must employ sound tactics in order to win in spite of the spawing & lack of command structure. But when it is too easy it has the feel of a RTS game experience & when it is hard it has the feel more of a tactical game experience. There is a huge difference between the two experiences.

Maybe in order to sell more you need to dumb it down a bit. I hope this isn't the case.

Can you tell us how far in to the game you are? It gets a LOT harder later on. E.g. Bulge 1 & 2 take things to a new level!

I do not play multiplayer - so hopefully there will be some new single player scenarios in the future?

There are already a number of user created scenarios. Official single player scenarios take a huge amout of time to develop so they'd have to be some sort of expansion pack rather than free upgrades, other than the 2 free scenarios we've already released.

We're looking for ways to make user content more easily accessible from in the game.

Yes, I am only on the 3rd Normandy scenario. Only a limited amount of time for gaming. I guess from what you said I will be eating my words later.

I have not detected an incremental chnge in the level of difficulty. Some scenarios are quicker than others but I mostly feel let down at the end. Most of the times I don't feel like I deserve a victory.

Just my impression. Still a great game. I will soldier on.

I am eating my words. I just got through Operation Cobra & it took me an obscene amount of time & effort. If I don't do tactically sound things I get creamed. Can't wait for Bulge & the add-on pack.

Great - glad you are enjoying it. We've tried to let the difficulty level ramp up slowly so that new comers to the genre can progress a significant way in before they are tested too hard.

We may have gone over the top on difficulty in later missions....
