Traskott,
You must wait to drop your A-bombs several years
...
In spite of it, you are playing a good game vs Seydlitz, with D.E.I. out of enemy hands !
Best of wishes,
Ramón

13/4:
33rd Japanese Division beaten by 17th and 1st Burmese Division. Perhaps a new offensive to Rangoon is on way ?
2 BBs and 1 CA damaged at P.H. arrived yesterday to Balboa. Now will go to Norfolk. They have for a long time patching major floodig damage.
Some movements at Chinese Front. What will we find there?

Hermes sunk?? I have been reading several AARs between your last post and this one and I could not remember this CVL being involved in a battle recently. I scanned your AAR for the word Hermes and did not come up with a description of what happened. I know she is not all that great an asset but would still like to know the circumstances of her loss. Did the Captain get into the grog again
and run her aground in a narrow strait?

She was inside an Air Combat T.F. , and after refuelled at Soerabaja, pasing through straits near Bali, one japanese SS launched one torpedo. And after ASW attacks launchs THREE and sank her. This with more than 8 english DDs escorting the CV...Oh, my!!!

It appears it was the ASW screen that got into to grog ... other players have mentioned that the experienced British destroyers are their best ASW force at this stage in the game. Really bad dice rolls to have them all fail pre-attack detection and fail to kill the sub after the first attack.

That was bad luck and perhaps a very aggressive captain.

Whatever...
Well: 14/4/1942. Singapore still on my hands. Soerabaja at forti4. Palembang near forti4, with a lot of troops here. More than 100 fighters at D.E.I.
What happened with Seydlitz? At this rate, to october I will still hold D.E.I., AND its OIL. My casualties has been very light. Only PoW ( [:@][:@]) as a valuable loss.
He is attacking me with 3.000 A.V. at Singapore, so I assume almost XIV, XV and XXV Armies are there. Well. It should fall soon, but later?
Well. At this moment I'm redeploying units all over the Pacific. In a few weeks the SLOC will be 100% secure. Now it has holes, altough some places are really well defended. There are some minor tweaks to fix, but, overall I'm at a very good shape.

Japanese suffered heavy carrier aircraft losses in March in you CV clash and during their PH raid. I think they also have some upgrades to AAA, ASW and aircraft available around this time. I think he has moved everything back to secure ports to upgrade and refit, then come out on some major operation.
Rest your tired units and train your new ones now ...

Thank both for the answers. [:o].
It's strange to me. Previous games, at this date, I was fighting to avoid defeat by points or fighting a "win or die!" situation...
Currently I'm training every carrier plane I have. I'll put Marines Sqn at my Carriers, to strengthen my fighter force. 32 Division will be redeployed at Noumea. An Australian invasion at this stage is unthinkable, so I'll began to put all my troops at P.H. or Noumea, in order to began to push him back as soon as posible.

Humm....
I think I'm going to rearrange a bit my units: USMC will be my "movile reserve", and eventually, my main shock troops. So 32 will go to Pago Pago and Marines there will go to Noumea with the 1st Amphibious Corps.
My silent service is now at dock, upgrading, but later I'll redeploy as much as I can to the strategic front (ie:near Japan supply lines).

Yeah... PG Charleston strikes again !!!

Two SCs ( Ch12 and 10 went down, with another at a very bad condition (3 hits, heavy fires, damage control party has suffered losses ). Now my SS will have more room to attack.
And, even, my Burma corps is striking hard japanese 33rd Division again...Looks like Seydlitz has turned overconfident about japanese troops and disdain burmese troops. Well, they have now close to 60 xp and good morale, so defeating them will be every time more and more difficult. Excellent !!!

Traskott,
Congrats for both victories !.. Great USS Charleston !, good work sinking valuable IJN ASW assets...At Burma you are making good efforts [:)] 93 IJA squads lost at Burma in this stage of the War is a hard price.
Best wishes,
Ramón

AMAZING!!!
There is a thread with the same subject, and the answer is "enjoy them!". SIR, YESSS SIR!!!.
Time to spend some political points. hehehehehehehehehe
17/4/42:
- CL NAKA INTERCEPT PG CHARLESTON at 1.000 YARDS !!! And score three hits...Amazing: 1 system dmg, 1 flood dmg, 2 major engine dmg. Mr. Roosvelt, I need no Essex, I need Erie PG Class !!!
Now my little tiny PG is running away to Dutch. Ok, although all this is funny, looks like Seydlitz has put some heavy assets at work in the North. I'll do some feints, but won't risk it anymore. The fear of her presence is more interesting than it's proper action.
- One of my AM clear mines at Lakatoro... Perhaps a hidden base ? Perhaps to intercept convoys from Noumea to Luganville ? I must send ships here to investigate (and AMs, of course ).
- I-157 sank xAk TAI SANG N. of Soerabaja. Another baby sank. Well...
- Singapore hits forti3 again!!! Well. All of this are not but losses and time to the japanese player!! Perhaps he thinks I'm out of supply? Because I have 47.700 reason against that argument...
- Two Air combat TFs. created with the new uber leaders. The Enterprise and Hornet will have a SUPERIOR Leadership for a very loooong time [:)].

Another deliberate attack at Singapore downs to 2 my forts...Well, another day Singa stands!!!!
Bloody fights at China, with lots of troops losed by every side.

And this is just one of the several battles we have fought with MORE on its way, as a new japanese offensive is spotted through the south...
Another LCU ( a eng. rgt ) is planning abainst Semarang. 1000 A.V. plus some good fortis and mines ready to say hello....
And there is movement at Espiritu Santo !!!!
Two small TFs, comprising at least one CL and 1 BB have appeared near Lunga. Several units are ready to fight any incoming offensive. LOT of air unit rearranged to put more air effort in game. P.H. is now empty of medium or heavy bombers...useless to everything but a Hawaii Invasion.
Well..If there is an Espiritu Santo Invasion my units will be ready to counter attack.

Humm... heheheheehe, the next Singapore attack got a 1 to 41, jajajajajaja. On my "real time notes" I wrote "LOL". 3.000 AV against 550... It hurts me 100 combat squads, but it will made the cityu last 3 or 4 more days. Good deal.
An air ambush over Singapore failed. No japanese air attacks today, and after carefully thinking my sqns will return to safe bases....I'm plenty of planes, but I want to keep them on reserve to the decisive moment.
