In the Caucasus I fear I've reached as far as I could for now... If we get trouble further north I'll have to pull out

I had to rail in the Prinz Eugen div. to help tackle units reconstituting behind my lines... what a waste... I rather wanted to assign PE to a frontline task

Let's check some figures... Got a lot more tanks, but I'm sure so do the Soviets... Air superiority is a thing of the past. Aircraft losses have been mounting and several air units were withdrawn as well. Transport has been on the decline as well

Before continuing the AAR a small comment on reconstitution... There are many strong Soviet units reconstituting behind my lines... If I'd see Partisans I'd be OK with that. On my side I saw my German 1st Infantry division reconstitute in Helsinki...  I'm gonna set fixed reconstitution points in my personal mod

Coming up: Soviet winter offensive 1942-43

The Soviet units will only reconstruct behind German lines if there are unconverted hexes. It is important to convert all regular supplied hexes. At first this seems like a chore but it is easily handled by the MP and Security forces. I have play tested over 20 D21 games and never had 1 unit do this.
If you change the Soviet reconstruction to fixed then a lot of units will probably not reconstruct because the Soviet track 1 objectives for most formations are close to the frontier.
As for the German unit reconstructing in Helsinki, it can happen because of the game engine but it is very rare. There is no problem setting the German units to fixed reconstruction. A lot of the German formations have programmed track 1 objectives but some may not be fully programmed. Formations in Norway are set to fixed.
Also 3.4 seems to be handling all reconstruction of units better than the previous versions.

... I'm planning to withdraw from the Caucasus... I got as far as I could, and the situation further north makes the need for extra units there quite urgent. My units on the Black Sea coast near Gagra are in good defensive positions.. gonna keep those there for the time being

The positions north of Tambov.. I had to withdraw to a shorter line due to increased Soviet pressure. Having taken care of most rogue Soviet units, the Prinz Eugen dudes are being moved to the front. In other sectors , Moscow and further up I had to give ground a bit and deal with Soviet infiltrations but am not too worried

Another area where I'm shortening the frontline before I get the "No retreats" order is the bulge south-east of Borisoglebsk

I was driven out of Stalingrad!!! I'm not gonna try to retake it or resist too much. Extracted some units left in the western outskirts

Here an overview from the southern sectors... I'm retreating gradually from eastern positions in an effort to prevent the front from starting to slide.
I still have to get the (self imposed) No Retreat order from Hitler and wanna be in better defensive positions before my hands get tied

Steve and Rick have updated Directive 21 which will be shipped with patch 3.4. It features an additional 4th objective track for the Red Army

Am continuing D21 in 3.4.0.178 ... New Turn Order ON, but New Supply Rules OFF cuz in this 3.2 version of the scenario it would cause the Northern Cape from being left unsupplied

EDIT!!! Under .178 Elmer was overrunning too easy... Fixed in later versions... Anyway, it helped him to cause my problems here... If I'd saved this turn I would replay it, but there ya go...[;)]

December 2, 1942... Humongous Mega Disaster!!!
My lines in the Borisoglebsk area were obliterated, and on top of this Elmer got the first move after the turn he broke through... Soviet Tank brigades oozed through the widening gap, are racing towards Voronezh and I have nothing in the near vicinity to secure the river crossing.
Good thing I have lots of reinforcements arriving this turn, but they are of dubious quality and have to be railed in (see next post)

The Soviet Voronezh offensive is not the only trouble I'm faced with.
Northwest of Stalingrad a small breakthrough sees Ruskis roaming freely behind my lines, and more's to come...
In order to save my southern front I'm gonna have to pull back behind the Don...
