OK-so the last file came in and was forwarded. It seems that the turn 160.all did not make it to Russia.

Game on.

France in.

France finds it hard to understand what good Britain could gain from giving money to Austria at this time. Is she still scared of a France allready beaten to a pulp???

HiHi

Oh, come on-you guys had this planned all along

[&:] [&:] [&:]

Err, fraid the subtlty implied is lost on me [X(], so lets run through it; earlier in the game Prussia was sneak attacked by Russia and looked to be about demolished, England went to his aid and I think it fair to say kept Prussia afloat as a Nation.

Now for some considerable time Spain has been piling all available Diplomatic resourses into my Protectorate of Portugal, despite me issuing a Warning via Prussia that should he succeed in his provocative action I would go to war with Spain.

Prussia then makes an alliance with Spain which includes a Mutual defence pact, when I DoW Spain over the Portugal Coup Prussia promptly cancels his alliance with England to trigger his MD pact with Spain (this despite my offer to him to arrainge a 'Cease Fire' should England & Spain go to war) so with Prussian armies massed on the boarders of Englands Northern territories he will obviously get some short term gains, Sweden & Russia will as like as not also get involved in the Northern war, so, with my armies committed to the Med I am likely to lose a fair amount in Northern Europe, ... OK I think thats a reasonable outline of the situation to date, so please help out this poor befudled individual, ... Err, ... whats my "Plan!"? [&:] the subtlty really does escape me [:)]

All the Best

So, this is not a trick to get Turkey or France to DoW Spain?
Actually, Peter, my earlier statement was in jest. I was quite surprised to see the Spanish attack on Portugal-and was certain you would DoW Spain in response. I would like to honor our alliance, but it seems Turkey is tied up in a war where its opposition is being funded by...an ally.

HiHi

While perhaps a Tad sarcastic (it's the scorpio in me [:D] ) my reply was meant to be 'Tounge in Cheek', more a side-swipe at Prussian Morality/sence of Honour than anything else.

If it's of any comfort I think I have only cancelled an Alliance 3 times (1 of them v the AI, ... just) in all the games I've played, it takes a lot for me to dishonour my alliances, so with good faith your end I have no intention of becoming Turkeys enemy, I remember (as with Austria) the help you gave in the war v's Russia [:)]

It took some time (and possibly some help from an Italian born Spanish diplomat), but a peaceful realization was made possible that Portugal should leave the suffocating iron fist of Barbaria. I mean it's not like Spain didn't offer a more than reasonable trade for the land, which would have granted GB a spring levee each spring. Unfortunately there are still remnants of British rule left behind, but Portugal will be much happier once they have joined Spain.

No attack, nor act of aggression has been made on GB by Spain thusfar! (The original deal made concerning Portugal with King Mus has been violated and therefore void, despite these new "Warnings" issued. Spain has held up Her end of the bargain.)

Of course, we cannot help but wonder why Turkey had not expressed a similiar "honoring of alliance" when GB initiated an unprovoked land grab in Italy?
