Scenario editor?

The team behind the award-winning game Advanced Tactics is back with a new and improved game engine that focuses on the decisive early days of World War II! Decisive Campaigns: The Blitzkrieg from Warsaw to Paris is the first in an innovative series of operational World War II wargames that also include a strategic element. The Blitzkrieg from Warsaw to Paris simulates Germany’s military successes in Poland and France in 1939 and 1940 (including also a hypothetical “Sea Lion” invasion of Great Britain).

Scenario editor?

Post by borsook79 »

Are there any plans for a scenario editor for this game? Or if not, maybe for including some smaller scenarios in subsequent patches?

I am not going to promise anything. I only do that when I am 100% sure we will deliver. But I hope to give some extra scenarios in the future. If everything goes well i'll give some more news on this in a week or 2-3.

Yup that's good news indeed. Because a scenario editor would mean a huge scenario base made by users, some are very skilled at this. Not me, I suck at it [:D]

I'd say a scenario editor is a must have for this game. Keep the maps and campaign-linkages under the control of the developer, but open up the scenarios.

Would it be possible to edit/create cards as well?

I must say, this shapes up to be a a great game with a great future. But it's leightweight on content.

The OOBs are good, but could certainly be improved.

Currently this one of my concerns. In this type of game, the biggest motivations for me is to play campaigns. That means scenarios have to be connected and allow me carry on after the current one. To arrive at an end point is a big motivation killer.

I am sure the industrious folks at vrdesigns.nl are already beginning work on entirely NEW campaigns (Africa, etc) and new features. It would be idiotic not to strike this iron while it's hot, and turn this into a series. But there is only so much that you can do yourself .. and user made scenarios are free and help your game to attain the critical mass that it needs to become a success!

I would rather have more scenarios, using the same or other maps. With new counters and maps (from Vic), you could play any scenario and campaigne in WWII with this engine.

I dont have the time to fiddle with an editor, and usermade scenarios are often pretty poor.

http://wargamer.com/article/2927/decisi ... w-to-paris
.. Also Advanced Tactics is the VR Designs title that comes with an extensive editor. Decisive Campaigns: Warsaw To Paris is a first game in a line of limited content only titles. Making a line of these Decisive Campaigns games enables me to focus more on historical research and crafting more historical rules. (As WTP already shows!) But also it allows me to branch out and hopefully extend the number of titles available. Since WTP comes without editor, to support further wargame community creativity, random games and player made scenario designs the Advanced Tactics game line will be continued and is scheduled to be updated with some new features in the near future.

Can somebody explain this paragraph to me?

What's to explain. DC will probably not have an editor. For a game with full editor and moddability Vic intends to continue to update and improve AT.

"Probably" leaves open some possibilities, I hope to have an editor in the future, limited as well but user friendly.
