DerC vs. Kez - Part 2 retry - Lapland

Post by DerC »

Okay, hopefully we'll get this one going now. We decided to pick something out of the ordinary, the War of Lapland fought between the Finnish and German armies in late 1944. The date is set at October 1944, I'm playing the Germans.

Arty limit is at 10%, no prelaid mines, large map, 6220 points. We also agreed that both sides have some limitations on tanks, for example Germans aren't allowed to use Panthers or Tigers. Since visibility is 2, a couple of Panther UHUs would probably have been a bit unfair? :D

Kez is just now deploying his troops and playing turn one, hoping to hear from him soon.

Turn 1

I begin my movement with support from two 105mm batteries. The vis is horribly low, so I have to advance carefully. Men are feeling a little bit uneasy, because they're our old brothes-in-arms on the other side of frontline...

Turn 1, German

Post by DerC »

Fierce fighting breaks out in the central sector as German frontline scouts run into Finnish Jaegers. First it seems as though the Finns have the upper hand, but a few panzers and a Flammwagen turn the tide.

The northern sector is still pretty quiet, just some probing attacks by scouts from both sides.

In the south Finnish infantry ambushes a Kubelwagen, but a Flammwagen quickly retaliates. They have proven to be an excellent purchase at the very first turn, with a range of 2 in their flamethrowers they make some nice burnt Jaegers.

Since there's no sign of the rain stopping and visibility clearing up, I order my men to stay alert at all times and not to let any Finnish infiltrators through our lines.

Edit: Updated the subject of this post.

Game over man, game over.

I won't continue this match never, reasons: I'm moving to country with no access to internet, the vis of 2 gives me no mercy against flammwagens and that kind of things. :( Maybe we'll try out something more ordinary sometime soon.

Sounds like a plan :D but seriously, I just graduated and now I'll continue working on the Suomussalmi campaign... it's just that how the heck I can survive without the 'Net? :(
