1.08 Status update

Post by MarshallEllis »

Hey guys:

Pulled back simul Eco and 1.08.04 is in test as we speak. I'm testing in a few PBEM games and when they move smoothly for a few game months then I will post this BETA!
Not sure if it will be this week but we will try!
Thank you

Marshall
Its getting to the stage that now out of the 7 games that are going here, we have 2 have had gamer stopppers, and the other have had to increasingly game manage to continue playing. The situation with EiA is that a fix really needs to start happening to get problems, fixed is really starting to get annoying.

I would also impress upon Matrix to get this out as soon as possible.

Are you keeping simul dip or is that going away too? More of the problems I've seen have been to do with simul dip and the end of the land phase, rather than simul econ.

We're keeping simul Dip. The land issue is related to simul Eco and that is gone. Simul Dip had some issues BUT I just sent out a new test EXE candidate last night to 2 games to fix that up. Games moving pretty smooth this AM.

I have a question about 1.08 Beta. I am hosting a game where we are playing using the latest 1.08 Beta. We are almost to the first economic phase. Will we be able to play the econ phase or will the game hang up(stop) so we cannot play on? What do you recommend we do?

Thanks

Great question! :-/
The answer is not as clear. It might work. There are a number of variables in play that would affect your game i.e. France going last in the land phase of an Eco month is the big one that migh stop the game.

I would recommend waiting for the 1,08.04 BETA which I hope we can get out this week. Our testing is looking good and I am awaiting some updates for the weekend playing of the PBEM test games that I am watching.

Prelim results indicate that all looks good.

The only known issue is still Spain CANNOT be an AI player for the simul Diplomacy to work properly.

Brilliant Marshall, that's good to hear. Now, like yearworld says, we wait for Matrix. I can't imagine they will be 3+ weeks this time.

Marshall, maybe you could rattle the cage a Matrix where they keep their web site staff, and see where posting the BETA is on their to list.

I have been playing the 1.08.04 developers beta in a couple of games now. It seems much better than 1.08.03. The simultaneous diplomacy and combat phase bugs are gone, economic seems to work better (actually it works at all which is a big improvement on 1.08.03) and siege combat bugs are fixed.

I hope the rest of the community gets this soon.

I would still like to see a push on fixing some of the other major bugs in Mantis before we go to 1.08 final.

We have a group that is itching to start a new game, but we have been waiting for 1.8.04 to correct the simul eco issues. Can we get a copy of the new BETA posted?
