So, can you fortify Western France as part of the Vichy event?
This new event allows the German player to fortify the defense of Southern France if Spain falls to the Allies and Vichy was still neutral at the time. If the Allies had earlier attacked Morocco, for instance, Vichy would already be fully Axis and this event will have no effect. However it's a nice event for Germany if the Allies ignored North Africa and went strait for the Iberian peninsula as their alternate D-day route.

You have now fortified every inch of France, except for the section the Germans actually fortified.

I don't think you understand what I actually did. It's only an event change. Once before you thought I was giving Germany some huge advantage, when in fact it's very minor. Perhaps rjh1971 could make you understand his request. When you are actually a master player of this game, then speak with authority on this game, until then your rude comments can be taken elsewhere. If you don't like it then play the basic game.

Whoa Nelly! The problem with email / text is that there is often ample room for mis-communication. Intent is not always best conveyed in a simple line or two and it is easy to misconstrue and to over-react. I have experience playing both Runyan and Lebatron and believe that both players are interested in the game and are seeking to make it better for everyone. That said, Lebatron and Wanderinghead have done a HUGE amount for keeping the game fresh and new. It is sometimes a little too easy to publicly play the critic, without regard for the how the modder feels or was seeking to achieve. I don't always agree 100% with every change made, but I generally find that the mods and patches have provided more variety to the game. I have three different versions installed. At the end of the day, folks like Brian and Jesse are doing their hard work for 0$. Yep, for free. As such, I can understand that they can get a little testy in defence of their efforts. For our part, I think we have a lot to be gracious for. Thanks guys.

Having said that, I think Lebatron's change in the Vichy event does not actually result creating fortresses in Southern France. But, I can see how you might have misconstrued his wording. Rather, I think the event un-freezes Southern France so that Germany can move troops in to 'fortify' the area (correct me if I am wrong). As for the fortresses in Eastern France, they really only have a slight effect in game play (if at all). I still find that there is a prediliction to pull back to Western Germany. So, I wouldn't really get up in arms about it. As you can appreciate, there is a measure of abstraction in the attempt to promote a certain type of game flow. I understand why W France is not fortified -- it is often way to strong to crack. Hence all the Spain invasions.....

Lets have fun out there!

Sean couldn't have said it better, iirc Southern France doesn't get a fortress if it joins Germany.

On another side, Jesse I just installed v1.04, have you updated the version showing in the lower right corner in the main screen? I keep seeing v1.03 instead of 1.04. I just overwrote the previous version with the newest one.

Darn, I missed that. I'll try to remember for 1.05 to update this number.

Edit. I think I will just repost 1.04 with this fix added in. It will be the only change, so those that already started a game under 1.04 will not have to worry about a compatibility problem. Thanks for pointing this out.

Every now and then I pop in on this thread to check out what Lebatron is doing with 2by3's game... though I think Deluxe AWD is just Lebatron's game right now. [;)]

You did it man, we just love you!!! [&o]

Thanks! I think I will probably get around to updating Deluxe AWD soon with some more new unit art. More tanks! We got to have something like the German E-100 or the Maus "Mouse" for when the tank stats get real high. At this time I'm not sure about any other tweeks. Suggestions are welcome.

For those that have been wondering what I've been up to I can tell you that I've been doing a lot of boardgaming over the last year. I made a computer adaptation for Tide of Iron via Zuntzu and I'm working on updating this at the moment. Also I've been designing a tactical boardgame over the last few weeks. For those familar with Tide of Iron, Squad Leader, Combat Commander etc my boardgame design will fall within that category. It's in the very early stages right now but I hope the ideas keep coming;)

Good Gaming,
Jesse

Thanks. Its been a long time since I played this game. Not that I have really found any replacement. Nothing really touches this game in terms of its balance of grand strategy to elegance of design. Hearts of Iron for instance is just to spreadsheety to me and moves to slow. I like that you can complete a game in 20 or so turns. This makes it perfect for PBEM.

Nah I haven't found a better game I have just moved to a new hobby, or rather got back into what I loved in the 80's. R/C planes.

I've got a new version in the works. But before I put it out I want to test it out on a few PBEM games of it first.
