zooming terrain pallette

Post by larryfulkerson »

So um........I'm using the latest and greatest version ( 191 ) and noticed while monkeying around in the editor that when you zoom the map bigger or smaller the terrain pallette zooms too. With the main map zoomed all the way upwards you can see that the terrain pallette is so small it's unusable. Just thought maybe I should tell somebody in case it's not a feature and really is a bug.

It's a feature request[:D]. Ok, it's a bug, it was a feature in an earlier version because I was only keeping 1 hex tile size in memory. I changed it later to keep multiple sizes in memory but forgot to reviisit that and see what it would take to fix it.

Why is this a big deal? You can zoom back up to select the tile you want to edit, then zoom back down to edit (but who edits the map at that zoom level?).

If I have to explain it to you, you aren't going to get it.

It's a serious question Larry. Why does this matter if all you have to do is zoom back in to make the tile selection and no one is going to edit the map at the zoomed out view?

I doesn't matter at all IF all you have to do is zoom back in and nobody is going to edit the map at the zoomed out view. But there may be ONE person who does edit the map that way and doesn't want to spend the 5 seconds zooming in and out every time he/she makes a terrain selection. That's all. No biggie.

It is a bug, it's in the bug list, but won't be fixed until 3.5 when there is more time to test it before release since I don't have a lot of experience with the editor. There are a couple other bugs like that. I do like to collect all the bugs and suggestions, and I appreciate your posting about them Larry.
