Multiple Save files Yes or No?

Post by RayM »

I'm working my way through WT and have worked up to Battle 7 (Operation KA). My concern is that I have only 1 save file in Slot one encapsulating all my efforts through Battle 6 in contrast to multiiple saves I make for normal SPWaW scenarios.

My concern is that if I have a really bad Battle or two and if I want to go back and start over, I can't. Now if that is the way it is supposed to be...then okay...but I would hate to start over again with Battle 1. Admitedly, it makes for game consequences and makes the player much more thoughtful. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Ray

Not recommended for your reasons, but making a back-up of Mega saves is recommended in the event your current save crashes. Hint Hint! But this hasn't been a problem with WT save games.

Ray M, I always make a backup of each battle at the start in case of CTD's or just really bad tactical judgement. I made a new folder under windows explorer and called it mega saves. This folder is not in the SPWAW directory. After you start a battle, quit it and auto save before you do anything on the 1st turn. Go back to windows explorer and browse down to the SPWAW directory, expand until you see the folder that's called megas (might say mega campaigns, I don't remember). Inside of that there should be a folder called saves. Open that and you will see your current saved game for Watch Tower. Copy and paste the 3 files associated with it, xxx.cam, xxx.sav and xxx.rec, where xxx is whatever you called the game ,into the newly created folder above. I use the format of WT01, WT02 etc so I can easily see which scenario it was. If you need to re-do a given battle, go into the new folder, copy and paste back into the save folder under mega campaigns. As long as you are not using the same file name for each scenario, it will just add the scenario under that first slot. You need to pull it out of that un-associated save folder or it will just keep sticking it back in slot 1.

Hope this helps.

:D

I just put a folder within the 'save' folder and name it 'backups' and then I create a shortcut on my desktop so it is an easy matter to copy and paste to and from 'save' to 'backup'. The same goes for my PBEM save folder for when you are using a slot for more than one PBEM game. -- Now I just wish I would use the Mega Camp Backup folder more often.
