Don,

would be great if there´s an E-Book. I have searched the net for it, but didn´t find anything. Got the paperback version and am on page 20 or so. Really good reading. Strongly recommended.

No update on Strike Group Reagon in e-book format, folks simply have to ASK for it at Amazon.

Sorry I can't be of further help.

Hi All,

This is a good link for different publications people may find useful:

http://www.history.navy.mil/library/onl ... .htm#ships

Not directly related to Harpoon, it does however contain so many articles and publications that most of us will find something useful amongst the many subjects covered.

Cheers

Hi JD,
ORIGINAL: jdkbph

I found Capt. Wayne Hughes' "Fleet Tactics" books to be interesting reads.

JD
Found 2 books starting from "Fleet Tactics": "Fleet Tactics: Theory and Practice", "Fleet Tactics and Coastal Combat" by the same author? Which book can you suggest?

Kazunori,

I'm probably closest to your time zone, so if you need a hand with translation feel free to ask. My Japanese is very rusty (did 12 months at the consulate in Melbourne many years ago and then learnt Kendo for 2 years) but I'm sure I could help make the English a little more understandable (in English).

Great to see you're getting involved in such a big way.

Cheers

Hi Kazunori. The latter (Coastal Combat) is an update of the original (Theory and Practice) but as far as I can tell, includes the best of what was in the original, having stood the test of the intervening years. If you're only going to read one, I would suggest Fleet Tactics and Coastal Combat.

That said, Fleet Tactics: Theory and Practice - which I haven't read in some time, come to think of it - would be an interesting view of early thought on naval combat in the missile era (c 1980s), and may even be more in line with the rules used in the development of Harpoon Classic.

Hello !

Anybody has ever seen a copy of the Michael A. Palmer book "Blue Water Navy: Seapower and the 3rd World War, A novel" by Presidio Press , 1991, ISBN 9780891413745.

I remember way back then that it was on the bibliography of the manual of Harpoon 1.
Searched for a copy for a long time but without success...

Has anybody read it ?
Can someone post a review of this book ?

Thanks !
Best regards

Hi JD,

Thank you very much for your mention! In my store the latter one is not available with a reasonable price, so placed an order for the former one instead. Look forward to seeing it, really!

Stumbled over this a year ago, too: Why does this book simply seem to not exist?

Well...it was published later and under another title: "The War That never was", Vandamere Press, 1994, ISBN 0-918339-28-6

Yea. The ultimate hide and seek. [:D]

Yes, I´ve read it. A superb book. Actually it is a a compendium of dozen short stories on WW III, embedded in one context. Tons of material for writing scenarios.

Ralf
