Warsaw to Paris v1.03 Public Beta

The team behind the award-winning game Advanced Tactics is back with a new and improved game engine that focuses on the decisive early days of World War II! Decisive Campaigns: The Blitzkrieg from Warsaw to Paris is the first in an innovative series of operational World War II wargames that also include a strategic element. The Blitzkrieg from Warsaw to Paris simulates Germany’s military successes in Poland and France in 1939 and 1940 (including also a hypothetical “Sea Lion” invasion of Great Britain).

Warsaw to Paris v1.03 Public Beta

Post by Andrew Loveridge »

Hello all,

We have another update for Decisive Campaigns, and it is now available as a Public Beta in the Members Club. It fixes a number of bugs, like Bzura Scenario's Air units AP, gives more info when loading, improves loading time for scenarios, plus other improvements. You will need to have a Members account and have registered Decisive Campaigns: the Blitzkrieg from Warsaw to Paris. The link will be on your Members Home page under Downloads.

Change History:
V1.03 Beta – October 4, 2010

[*]Fixes and Improvements
  • Loading Time
    • Added a small status message while starting up the game so the player
knows the game is loading data instead of being dead.
    • Scenario load time improved dramatically by making a number of changes
to the data storage format and re-using graphics if already loaded (hence
slightly longer load time at start up).
  • Rare AI Bug Fixed.
  • Added some auto memory release functions to fix a rare memory error.
  • Air units in the Bzura Scenario will no longer have free air travel after a couple of
    rounds.
  • AI Restructured.
  • Retreat, but no Advance
    • It happens when attacking troops run out of Action Points while the
enemy unit has not finished retreating yet. So its a "feature", at least it is
intended behavior. It has been made more clear when this combat result
occurs by specifying that the attacker is out of AP instead of that the
      defender held.
  • You can now find info in the combat detail screen about anti-structural damage
    versus bridges or fortifications.
  • France GD Regiment is now motorized.

We have been making some changes to our server and the new updates are not appearing in the Registered Downloads section as they should, but they do appear under the 'Download' column on the Members Home page.  It should have an orange link that says 'Digital' or 'Retail'.

[*]AI Restructured.
I wonder what does this one in particular mean? What were the goals of restructuring?

When selecting the Bzura scenario in 1.3 Beta, both sides default to Human. I'm pretty sure in 1.2 that the Germans defaulted to AI.

In the Bzura scenario, hexes 39,7:39,8:40,9 and 41,8 the terrain type listed at the top center of the map is a period (.). It should be Fortress. All these hexes also have a little yellow square on the upper left hexside.

I don't know if this was the case prior to 1.3 Beta or if it was in the earlier versions as well.

I am re-organizing the AI code in preperation for starting on the next DC title. At the moment i am only improving readability, but eventually some improvements will be made too that will be shared with DC : BLITZ.

BLITZ refers to the title of this game, not the next one.

Great to hear Vic that some changes will be backported, too many developers when creating "part 2" forget about the first game at once...

A great patch, i understand that after this patch the 1.04 return to interface work and maybe the add of new small scens (Dunkirk, Meuse...).

Ummm new title need a rework in AI??? maybe because AI need to work with bigger armies and more terrain (east front) or opposite, small armies in bad terrain but smaller (Norway, Balkans, north Africa...)??? a little clue maybe??? [:D]

PD: i wait more patches for DCB and more titles for the serie [&o]

In the Case Yellow Scenario the city of Enschede (in the Netherlands at the top of the map near the German border) has a red and white dot marking it as a VP city, but when you click on the hex the VP for the city is listed as zero. Same thing in the Netherlands scenario.

If you choose retry, it will usually progress. On some installs you may have to hit retry multiple times, but it should finish and work properly. We have encountered this occasionally with our installers, but it is random and doesn't seem to effect the final install.

Thanks, but retry does not work, it keeps crashes.
What's worse is, my game can not run now after unsuccessful installation.
Could you please provide MD5, then I could check whether the file is not crupted. Thank you very much!

Then I would uninstall the game, after backing up your savedgames folder, and reinstall the game and patch. You may want to re-download the patch as well, it could have been a bad download.
