It wouldn't hurt right?  Unless the new bombard range settings can sometime negate the effects of mines.

i was in hope the mine sweeper would keep the TF safe but it seems its not the case after a little testing but it does help.

Tiger if you can give me a few minutes, I have a Bombardment Task Force at Colombo with a half dozen of DMS's - Let me go ahead and do a pair of tests.

Ok here's what I got, I have 2 Bombardment groups for the Japanese, One is Fast, the other is Slow - I put a few DMS's in the bombardment group Slow for now. Here are the results of bombarding Colombo.
So what I gather is, the DMS's are pretty much scrapgoat, meaning while they are busy clearing mines, they get shot up by the coastal batteries, however the Battleships DO not go in first.

So yeah, you want to stick those mine sweepers in the Bombardment groups, because in this test I only had a single Destroyer hit by a mine.

How do you get your floatplanes to spot? I figured i had to set them on night mission and recon, then i selected the base to bombard. It isn't working, so i am doing something wrong. Can you tell me what the settings should be?

First if your bombardments are at night then you have to have every float plane from the battleships to recon at night, 6,000 ft and the base chosen to be bombarded. Problem is if you bombard at day, it won't work. I also notice if any float planes are in maintenance then you have a chance they won't fly.

I wish there was a way to set every float in the task force to fly recon at night, however you have to do every float plane individually, so make sure you set them.
