TOAWlog on v3.4.191

Post by ogar »

I'm having a problem getting toawlog to write on version 191 -- I wonder if anyone else is running 191 and having a similar problem ?

I had no problem when I was using 3.4.173, so if the problem is not just me - it might be specific to 191.

I've tried setting the toawlog flag to Y in the infile; as well as the uberdude flag and the polog (yeah, glutton for punishment). I changed the settings, then started up TOAW 3.4.191. I know uberdude is running because I see DEBUG statements in the News as well as occassionally underneath the main panel. I get the polog, and the sitreps, but the only toawlog is the last one from when I using 173. I did try just adding the "toawlog uberdude" string to the exe string in my shortcut, but that method does not get a toawlog written either.
And any time I changed the settings in ini or in the shortcut was with TOAW shut down. I would then start a new TOAW game to check.
Oh, I'm using Rimini as a test scenario here - and yes Allies turn 1 is including some inf and armor assaults as well as the air/naval/artilley buffet.

Any suggestions ? Anyone else with a similar glitch ?

TIA

I'm not sure but I think the new TOAWlog overwrites the old one. Look for the time and date stamp on the file to see if it's new information and not the old log.

Ralph says in his version notes that he broke TOAWlog in 177 & fixed it in 196.

Curtis, Larry,

Thanks for the replies.

Larry -- yeah, aint it a pain ? That's why I used to have separate pointers and folders to snapshot and save it, mostly manually, after a turn when playing multiple games.

Curtis -- just what I was looking for ! And it saves me from more controlled experiments with 191 settings vs 173. I understood 191 is an 'as is', 'not recognized for support' version, and was ready to drop back to 173 for the toawlog testing - but I wanted to make sure that I did not overlook something. And I did. Thanks again.
