Campaign Compatibility

Post by Major_Johnson »

I am a proud owner of Desert Fox Mega Campaign. ;) I ordered Operation Watchtower. My question is, is it possible to copy just the campaign from Operation Watchtower to my current SPWAW installation?? I do have my current install upgraded to 7.1.

Ok, after reading it over about 50 times and evaluating where I'm at, I think I know what I have to do. Thanks a bunch!

While I'm at it, I see that I've been demoted in rank!! I used to be a Matrix veteran!! I know I've been away for awhile, but geez!!! And I even helped Wild Bill out with Japanese Tank photo's for the Operation Watchtower project!! I'll take my whippin', but please don't make me a lowly recuit again!! :)

I think they made a change awhile back and it affected the ranks.
I believe 50 posts = trooper , 250 = veteran and the next promotion isn't until 1000 posts.

Perhaps you could appeal to the higher powers that moderate this forum and plead your case, or you could consider it a monster crash to desktop that requires you to start over at the first battle?(post):(

When they redid the forums many usernames that appeared to be dead lost there post count during the conversion. Nobody will hold it against you.

One more question. Will the 7.1 patch adversely effect the Desert Fox campaign that I am currently playing?? Thanks.

I cannot remember which update that you are running MCNA under now, but if it is 7.1 , then when you put MCWT on I believe it will go back to 7.0 and need to be re-updated to 7.1. With that patch re-applied, MCNA should be ok again. Just make sure that you save your ongoing game(s) somewhere else before you start.
If you have not already done so, go to Tankheads site and pick up the Lost Leader fix for MCNA also.

Oh man, now I'm really confused!! :) I haven't gotten the Operation Watchtower cd yet. My question was strictly referring to applying the patch to my current installation, which is the Desert Fox mega campaign that I upgraded to 7.1. I'm not familiar with some of the abbreviations I've been seeing, like MCNA. I know the MC stands for Mega Campaign. But the NA is escaping me!! Uh! Now I know I'm getting old!! :) Thanks!

MCNA= Megacampaign North Africa
MCLV= Megacampaign Lost Victories
MCWT= Megacampaign Operation Watch Tower

The 7.1 patch is the latest official patch for SPWAW. There is an "un-official "one, 7.1x that deals with a few OOB oddities but the game plays fine w/o them.

There is a patch for MCNA at Matrix's site as well as the one at Tankheads site, too. I am not real sure about what you are asking but are you saying that you have Desert Fox installed and upgraded to 7.1 but you don't have any of the subsequent desert Fox patches installed? (I'm old, too , especially on Fridays)

:confused:

North Africa, DUH!!!!! Oh man! Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks!! :)

Anyway, to answer your question, no I don't have any of the Desert Fox patches applied. The patch I'm questioning is SPWaWv7-1Update.zip. From what I can see that applies to the whole game and not just the Desert Fox campaign. Though I now see that there is a patch for the campaign and I'm going to download that as well. Is there any particular order I should install them??

I've always found that the game ran fine for me. Maybe a glitch here or there, but it never bothered me enough to look into it. I know this has been said 1000 times, but the Matrix team has done a heck of a job with the game from what they had to start with, which wasn't a bad game in itself (which I have by the way, with all 3 Campaign disks!)

But thanks for your help. I think I'm finally starting to get a handle on what I have to do. And that includes after I get MCWT. See that! I can do it!! :)

Sounds like you are getting the hang of it. Follow the instructions in newbies guide as far as installation sequence and you should be fine. It's really not that hard, it just looks like it with all the verbiage I put in. Tried to cover all possibilities but I'm sure I missed some. Good luck with MCWT, those Japs are hard to spot and real sneaky.
