Can't reattach units

I'm pretty sure this used to work for me, but I'm having trouble reattaching units to their HQ's. When I press the reattach button, nothing happens. If I select the HQ, the unit isn't attached, and if I select the unit again, the reattach button isn't greyed out. Obviously, pressing it again at this point yields the same result.

I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong. As I said, it used to work. I tried saving and reloading, but that doesn't seem to help.

Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong would be appreciated.

That doesn't sound right. Is the game paused or running?

I've noticed that it depends on which OOB view you have on. To be sure, select the 'organic' OOB, and hit the reattach button.

I tried it both with the game paused and running, and neither way worked. I think that Franklin Nimitz may have the solution, though. I'll try it as soon as I get home.

Very odd. It works now, regardless of the OOB mode. Since I tried reloading the same save yesterday, I assume that quitting a restarting the game would have helped. I have no idea what caused it, though, and now I can't replicate it. I suppose I'll post again if the problem returns.

Now it's happening again. Experimenting a bit shows that the unit does get reattached, but only when the OOB mode is organic structure or player structure. If I switch back to current op plan structure, the unit is not reattached, the reattach button is not greyed out and it doesn't follow the orders of the HQ. Very odd.

Can you provide a saved game with this behaviour?

I have attached a save game. Try switching to current op plan structure, then select the AT brigade called PAK PI 14 Coy 48 Gren Regt, just south east of the Losheimergraben objective, then try attaching it. Then, select another unit and select the brigade again, and you'll see that it's not attached.

I'm starting to wonder if this is usual behaviour, and I'm just noticing it once in a while. I find it weird and confusing, in any case.

This is a good observation by Nikolaj, and one I never noticed because I rarely use the OB toggle. I downloaded the saved game and I do see a few issues that can cause a player confusion and should be fixed:

1. When a unit is selected, the 'reattach' button is not refreshing with the selected OB toggle as you cycle through, so it may show 'reattach' or not, depending on what it was showing when you first selected the unit.

2. When any unit is attached to it's organic superior, the "reattach" button will show up when 'current OP plan structure' is toggled. Clicking it does nothing so why is it there?

3. When a unit that has been attached to a new HQ by the player (like the PaK Platoon) is selected, the "reattach" toggle is not available when you are showing organic structure unless you cycle to it from one of the other structures.

For now, the best thing to do is stay in 'Player Structure' is you want to see what really need attaching or detaching, and don't cycle the OB structure toggle while a unit is selected.
