Ship Upgrades

Post by afspret »

I've made a mode to Ironman in which I add upgrades to the Thornycroft class HDML (266), since it didn't have any. I added the upgrades to a game I was in the middle of playing but found when I click on one of the boats its not showing an upgrade path. I triple checked and made sure the upgrade path slot numbers were in order and the dates were not out of whack but still nothing. The other thing is I fixed some goofs I made to upgrades on a couple of other classes of ships and they took, just not the ones I made to the Thornycroft HDML.

Could the slots I put the upgrades in be the problem, they're in 951 & 952. Thanks in advance.

Changes to the database will not be reflected in ongoing games. Restart is required.

You can add some database changes to games in play but not all as something are determined and created at the start based on the data in the scenario.
IIRC, I caused issues when I mistakenly included ship changes in the update.

This is the items that I believe can be added to a game in play.
2.   Device Changes 3.   Aircraft Changes 4.   TO&E Changes (these will only take effect when a unit gets to its next TO&E upgrade point)5.  Class changes
From 1.00.84 WhatsNew file

Also this applies to any scenario updates, not just the official ones.
The game compares the save against the current scenario tables and reports if an update is possible.

I've been making changes to a personal mod testing a number of items. I can confirm all of the above is WAD. Be careful with the date triggers. If you have a unit appearing after its TOE date trigger, the TOE will not change.

Adding new shp classes or additional ships to scenario requires a restart though. Not sure about ship upgrades, but I don't think you can change the path without a re-start. I beleive I have been able to modify the upgrade itself (changing devices in the upgrade) and that worked. I haven't played with ships for a bit. Been working with air and LCU's lately, particularly TOE's.

Michael - is this issue (ship changes in the update) extent in the current patch (Patch 4)?
