It didn't look right. [:)] Maybe I can "paste" "anchovy" into the previous post.

Actually, the poor sod on the left has it the worst. First they give him a khaki-colored skirt to wear and then there is the helmet [X(][:D]

Maybe that's a pogo stick adaptation the right guy has to compensate for the lack of a 'chute.

both Yamashiro and Nagato have fallen off our sunk ships list,

To paraphrase The Princess Bride:

Whoo-hoo-hoo, look who knows so much. It just so happens that your ship here is only MOSTLY sunk. There's a big difference between mostly sunk and all sunk. Mostly sunk is slightly floating. With all sunk well, with all sunk there's usually only one thing you can do. Organise a diving holiday.

Zounds, Admirals/Lords sir, perhaps you are finally running up against the new, improved Quantum Mechanics/Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle Combat Resolution Improvement implemented in WITP AE.

Simply put, the resolution outcome algorithm states that once you know that you really sank a given ship (energy state precisely defined), the program demands that you can't have any idea where it sank. Similarly, if you're sure a ship is located right here, then you can't know if it's undamaged, injured, or sunk.

Simple quantum physics, amigos, now available on the virtual macroscopic level! This could lead to the Unified Field Theory Einstein was searching for! It may even replace current String Theory!

Some refer to this ambiguity/duality as the "Schroedinger's Cat/"Battleship Nagato" Paradox.

But it's actually quite simple: once you know that you sank a ship here, it can't be here any longer, or really be sunk. Capiche?

Quantum computing. Quantum wargaming. The way of the future! [8|]

Now I think I'll take a sip from this fresh cold one I'm holding in my hand...Ah, now there's no doubt about where it is and that it's cool and tasty! Thank goodness quantum mechanics still doesn't apply to Budweiser...

This Kraut spy Heisenberg is causing a lot of uncertainty.

One turn after she was seen afloat, Nagato is alleged to have sunk again East of Shortland.[:D]

It's not impossible, but still.

Also, Mutsu is alleged to have sunk in two places, near New Scotland and near Nagasaki.

When we catch this Heisenberg guy there WILL be a firing squad. I promise.

The way I read this, the lead force is to take out Horn Is and then the second transport group and carriers will head either through the Torres Strait to attack Cooktown or Cairns ore even Townville or they will turn south to gain a lodgement at Normanton.

Strangely, the poorly guarded support ships fleeing Darwin HAVE NOT been attacked by air from Port Moresby. This is most curious. Possibilities:

1) The lead group near Horn Is is bait to draw us North at which time PM will have 50 Bettys and 100 Zeroes.

2) Too many resources were consumed in the seizure of New Scotland (12 Bettys were killed only last turn over Fiji)

3) Last time they tried to hit Allied shipping near Horn Is, they were whacked pretty badly by Allied fighters....and they are just gun shy.

There are two USN carriers at Wellington with one RN carrier but there are only 26 attack planes between them and I just upgraded the Stringbags to Albacores so it wil take a few days.

Wasp just arrived in Panama...too far away and they know it.

One US carrier and one RN carrier at Pearl tidying up a bit. There are two and 1/2 TBF squadrons and 1 1/2 SBD squadrons and a complement of Albacores and some 45 Marine F4F's or so.

I think it is time to get everything to the South Pacific ASAP.

Cooktown has no garrison. Cairns has a brigade and level 2 1/2 forts.

Normanton has 5 Matildas and armoured sorghum harvesters.

The more I think about it, it seems odd to head for Cooktown from the NW when you could get there with more secrecy via the Jomard Passage East of New Guinea.

My assessment is their target is Normanton and the Horn Is attack is to seal the flank.
