Unit movement type mess (?)

Unit movement type mess (?)

I'm playing "Dinant - do or die" scenario.

At D1 10:00 the first reinforcements arrived.

There, among others, I get II Bn (of the 304 Pz Green Regt.)

Starting from the organic structure of that Bn, when I click on its HQ (II Bn HQ) on the info panel it shows it is a motorised bn.

However, if you look at its subordinate companies, you'll see there are two units (organically) attacked which are on foot:

1. Flak PI (strangely, the military symbol in the OB tab shows motorised (two dots under the symbol), but the Gen panel for that unit shows foot icon besides the movement field)
2. IG PI (both the military symbol in OB and the movement icon in Gen tab clearly designate as on foot)

If I order the whole battalion to move (giving orders to its HQ), it clearly behaves as a mixed on-foot/motorised unit (the movements take longer, motorised subordinates have typical stop-and-go behavior waiting for on-foot units, etc.)

Shouldn't then the Bn's movement type be shown as on-foot in the Gen tab when I click on the HQ?

I think that the reason it shows as motorised is to tell you at a glance that you can't move the whole battalion through woods, over minor rivers, etc.

You're probably right.

Silly me!, it's by design, and documented.

Anyway, that's a hint for a new UI improvement: as it is, it's useful to know the Bn's terrain movement limitations (and here being motorised is the limiting factor), but it would be equally useful to be able to see at glance what the Bn's movement speed would be (and here being partially on foot is the limiting factor).

So somehow showing both icons in the Gen tab may not be totally unreasonable.

Not a bad suggestion, though maybe a single "mixed" icon would be a better way to go.
