A couple of observations

Great game.

A couple of petty gripes.[:-]

1. When you load up the Kharkov 1943 scenario, the Germans (friendly) have blue numbers (and blue blobs on the minimap), and the Russians (enemy) have red numbers and red blobs. This is presumably an error and it should be the other way round, like in the other scenarios.

But frankly I wish it weren't, as blue for Germans and red for Russians looks just right. It is exactly the way they are depicted on Soviet battle maps. I cannot imagine why anyone thought that red for friendly and blue for enemy looks good. It only looks good if the Russians are the friendly side.

But if it has to be one or the other, then blue for friendly and red for enemy clearly looks better. That is how it is on real military maps (except Soviet ones). Unless you are a Communist, red = danger.

2. The German crosses on the NATO symbols also look really weird. This is because they look like the Red Cross. It makes every German unit look like a hospital unit. Try as I might, it is impossible to shake this impression. Such is the power and familiarity of the Red Cross symbol.

The root of the problem is that the lines that are drawn around the outside of the cross are so faint that they are almost invisible. It is precisely those lines that create the unmistakable Balkenkreuz symbol of the German military.

The colours do not represent friendly or unfriendly units but are player colours.

The nation played by player one is red, the one of player two is blue.

Thank you for your reply. I see what you mean.

IMHO this choice of colours is unfortunate, because in practice it normally means red for friendly and blue for enemy. The only exceptions to this are scenarios (Kharkov, Berlin) that may be played as either side.
