Was there a thread with tips for PBEM play??

Post by Frank W. »

Search brings no good results....

I must say PBM is the true test
if you are a good player.....

In my small experience against human oponents
i mostly lost the game against other good players.

Need some more practice it seems and perhaps
some hints form the crack players.

Practice always helps and there's plenty of hints floating around on this board. The thread hall of fame would be a good place to start looking. Don't bother with the search function, just read everything :) Lots of useful info hiding in innocent looking threads.
Don't know if there's a thread already that specifically deals with PBEM as opposed to solitaire play, but I don't see why this can't be it.
Let's see if this get's the ball rolling:

PBEM tip #1: Know your enemy. While not as predictable as the AI, most players develop tactics that suit their style of play and tend to stick by them. Play someone more than once, read his or hers AAR/DARs from other battles and comments in tactics threads and you'll start to notice certain tendencies which may be exploited.

PM your opponents previous opponents for tips on tendencies, strengths and weaknesses. Get intel where/when you can.
