I installed one of the pin-up packs from the mods forum. I have 1940s movie actrssses for each of my screens. I don't know who most of them are, but yeah, better than the originals!

Thanks,
This is important work because recent AAR's have shown a scenario 2, full tilt invasion of India is possible. Now if that Invasion went right up the west coast to Karachi, things would have gotten even more interesting. I am sure someone will try it now. I think all allied players now have to really consider where they send the early Australian troops and the British 18th Division. One quick question. Amongst the really good toys the Allies get I saw a bunch of Hurricanes. I've heard reported elsewhere that the Allies get Spitfires once the live of death is crossed. Can anyone confirm or deny?

If you look closely at the bottom of the Emergency Convoy Supply Convoy screen, it looks like they get 72 Spitfires also. Its garbled with over write text.

You're right. I couldn't get that to untangle. I play on an old, small flatscreen monitor on a lower res than many here who have super-duper 26-in. monsters or whatever. I don't know if that screen is made that way by the code or by my hardware. I had more of these types of garbles before Patch 1, and this is actually the first I've seen since those early days.

Thanks for testing this. If you look closely at the supply convoy, BTW, that's about another 2 divisions-worth of ground reinforcements, particularly valuable British and Indian Inf Squads and 25 Lb-ers, all of which are in short supply in 1942.

True, but with the proviso that to pull them out of the pool you need to expend supply, and do so at a base with x2 supply to begin with. Depending on the state of India when the forces are triggered, this could be easy or hard for the Allied player.

Bah!  This work isn't really helpful to the AE community since only the most inept of Allied players will find themselves faced with an invasion of Socatra or western India.  I can't imagine this coming up in a real game....

Wait until you're older. You'll be the poster boy for both, plus you won't be able to get up the morning, if you get my drift. But that's ok, because with Altzheimer's you can't remember what to do if you could.

ah nm i got it they appear at that level because they are accelerations so the 45 exp level is what the units have because it was either set them to recruit in 45 or at have them appear as vets in 42

Can't you have the "trigger forces" appear as the 45 experience bdes (with a withdraw date) rather than the veteran 1945 divisions?

It looks to me that a successful invasion and conquest of India is possible in this game (scenario II at leat). The priority for the japanese player should be cut the link between India and its reinforcements, by invading Socotra. So a frame which would be : Invade Ceylon, from there clear the Maldives and with a KB supported landing go for Socotra. Than you base lots of planes there, try to get rid of the RN and from there land a massive force at Surat , isolate the north while you clear out the majority of the peninsula, then focus on Bombay and Karachi.

This is doable it seems...

I'm wondering if one could jump right from Ceylon to Karachi with semi-prepped troops. The Allies have little to stop them except 1 British (18th) and 2 good Australian Divisions. Once Karachi is in the bag supplies and reinforcement pile up in Aden because the KB is based at Karachi and nothing comes out of the worm-hole.

I think there might be several ways to do this. I do think Socatra is important, but I don't think you necessarily have to take it first. I do believe it is essential for Japan to take Karachi, either by direct invasion or by quickly isolating Karachi after invading Surat.

I'm not yet sure how this would play out in the game. In my game with Q-Ball, I've played a very flexible "prevent defense," not giving much of a fight to this point. If an Allied player was more aggressive (and successfully so) in his defense it might seriously effect the Japanese player's plan.

With four more divisions and the other benefits inherent in Scenario Two, plus the differences in the air war inherent in AE, Japan can make the Allied player face some momentous decisions early in the game. The Allied player only has a few divisions to work with early in the game. He'd better "guess right" in allocating them. Send too much to Oz, then India is naked, and vice versa.

My guess is that there are going to be some very interesting, very taught Scenario Two matches as players probe these options.

I think this is an oversight. It seems to me IRL if Socotra was seized, India would have been deemed in mortal danger even if no Indian territory had yet been invaded.

That's probably true. Since the Med doesn't open up for the Allies until May 1943, an invasion of Socatra from '41 to early '43 would represent a very dire situation for India and should probably result in reinforcements.

I think the developers did a really good job with this whole "Line of Death" thing. It adds some really weird, challenging, fun complications to the game for both sides.

A case could be made for tweaks to the routine (lowering Indian unit quality, addressing the wormhole, perhaps moving the "Line of Death" to include Bombay and Cawnpore, etc.), but over all it adds much fun to the game.
