WW2 Battleset

Post by frank1970 »

Hi all,

I looked for a WW2 battleset for HUE and really found one from 1999. Now, is there a more recent one? And how do I use new battlesets? Does anyone know?

ANW or HCE?

There are various WWII scenarios for HC. One is made by Brad who also maintains the HCWW (Harpoon Classic World Wars) database. There are other WWII scenarios skulking about at harpgamer, look for scenarios requiring the HCWW database.

I made a one-scenario battleset featuring a gun battle but that isn't terribly fun ( http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.ph ... owfile=424 ).

Yes, as Tony has already kindly pointed out, I do have a WWII focused database called the HCWW, and it is available for download at HarpGamer.

Most recently I have been adding a few select dreadnoughts and such to reflect orders of battle from WWI, particularly battles like Dogger Bank and Jutland.

I looked for a HCE mod.
In the case I figure out how to use the Battleset, I will gladly try to create some scenarios.

We're working on improving the documentation on how the interplay between battlesets, scenarios and databases work. I'd suggest consulting the FAQ section at HarpGamer and/or asking specific questions about what to do.

To use a custom database like the HCWW, just unzip the database file into your HCE main directory. It will overwrite your 'commondb.res' file. You should rename your existing file first, of course. (Keeping in mind that the latest DB version will be available for download at HarpGamer). From there, you are good to go with the Scenario Editor.

Hehe, thankfully the HCDB is also available at harpgamer.  Plus since most of us are smart guys the original database is also present in the sub-directory cdb.bak (or is it commondb.bak).  Even the handy restcdb.bat if you really get scared.
