Indeed it shouldn't - however sometimes, just sometimes, no matter how hard you try not to, no matter how much you know you'll wish you didn't afterwards - sometimes you just have to say something.

And yes, I know full well its just the sort of reaction he wanted to get, but........

Indeed, you're right there. Despite his arrogance and obvious attempt to derail it, this particular thread should be a respectful place. There will be other threads to "bash the troll". [:(]

Don't worry Robert, you'll get the chance in other threads. I suspect this won't be his last attempt "to get our gruff". Just, let's do it here. Thanks.

"Bashing the trolls" is actually a bad thing. They are rather strange, in that they enjoy the attention. We have been rather remis in spraying for cockroaches on the main forum, but his antics got me motivated to request his removal for a time, if not permamently, from the boards.

Too right it is, and should be forever. No matter where I am and what I'm doing I try and keep to the 2 minute silence. It's not much to ask to remember those who fell to defend what we have today.

Many Dutch believe this too. Many homes are now safe and secure because of what others did for us. I am very grateful and thank you all for my today.

When it get's grim, just give a shout to Erik Rutins or Joe Wilkerson. Click on their name and send them a message.

Now Joe and Erik are both nice Jewish boys, and won't pop a cap in someone's skull just because they don't like gefiltefish; heck, I don't like gefiltefish. The perp has to be a real perp. But if he is, Joe and Erik are both pretty smart and will do what needs to be done.

May take a bit of time, but what the hey. Be judicious and they will be responsive.

Ciao. John

OK. I was the squealer on the last thread that got locked. The problem is that the troublemakers seem to know that an early morning post lasts the longest , as Joe comes in later in the day, and Erik is usually busy or unavailable.

For those connected to the avaiation side of the service, I'd like to bring attention to something that the USAF has been doing for over ten years called "The Heritage flight". The other services have picked up the idea, and the song "We remember" , has been written , performed and donated by Dwayne O'brien (formerly of "Little Texas"). It's a rare thing to see the majority of an air show audience tear up, but I've seen many do just that.

Uncle Ray served in the canal zone before WW2. I found his divisional patch one day at Granma's house about 3 years after he died. He never told me he was in the 1st Division, but he did say he was in NAfrica, Cobra(he said his whole body was shaking when he got bombed by our own b17s) and the Bulge. A little man, slight in build.

He said he became a supply sargent at some point, which may explain his survival.

Uncle Ray never got married. Worked for my grandfather. I worked w/ him when I was 17. Grandmother said he was never the same after WW2.

As we remember our vets, let us also remember to take care of them when they return from war. Some of them will not be the same as when they left.

When dealing with those types of folks I always fall back on this:

Military Rules for the Non-Military Personnel
Subject: Military Rules for the Non-Military Personnel

Dear Civilians,

We know that the current state of affairs in our great nation have many civilians up in arms and excited to join the military. For those of you who can't join, you can still lend a hand. Here are a few of the areas we would like your assistance with:

1.The next time you see an adult talking (or wearing a hat) during the playing of the National Anthem ... kick their ass.

2.When you witness firsthand someone burning the American Flag in protest... kick their ass.

3.Regardless of the rank they held while they served, pay the highest amount of respect to all veterans. If you see anyone doing otherwise, quietly pull them aside and explain how these Veterans fought for the very freedom they bask in every second. Enlighten them on the many sacrifices these Veterans made to make this Nation great. Then hold them down while a Disabled Veteran kicks their ass.

4.(GUYS) If you were never in the military, DO NOT pretend that you were. Wearing battle dress uniforms (BDU's), telling others that you used to be "Special Forces," and collecting GI Joe memorabilia, might have been okay if you were still seven. Now, it will only make you look stupid and get your ass kicked.

5.Next time you come across an Air Force member, do not ask them, "Do you fly a jet?" Not everyone in the Air Force is a pilot. Such ignorance deserves an ass kicking (children are exempt).

6.If you witness someone calling the U.S. Coast Guard non military, inform them of their mistake...and kick their ass.

7.Roseanne Barr's singing of the National Anthem is not a blooper...it was a disgrace and disrespectful. Laugh, and sooner or later your ass will be kicked.

8.Next time Old Glory (U.S. flag) prances by during a parade, get on your damn feet and pay homage to her by placing your hand over your heart. Quietly thank the military member or veteran lucky enough to be carrying her...of course, failure to do either of those could earn you a severe ass kicking.

9.What Jane Fonda did during the Vietnam War makes her the enemy. The proper word to describe her is "traitor." Just mention her nomination for "Woman of the Year" and get your ass kicked.

10.Don't try to discuss politics with a military member or a veteran. We are Americans and we all bleed the same regardless of our party affiliation. Our Chain of Command, is to include our commander in Chief. The President (for those who didn't know) is our CIC regardless of political party. We have no inside track on what happens inside those big important buildings where all those representatives" meet. All we know is that when those civilian representatives screw up the situation, they call upon the military to go straighten it out. The military member might direct you to Oliver North. (I can see him kicking your ass already.)

11."Your mama wears combat boots" never made sense to me ... stop saying it! If she did, she would most likely be a vet and probably kick your ass!

12.Bin Laden and the Taliban are not communists, so stop saying "Let's go kill those Commie's!!!" And stop asking us where he is!!!! Crystal balls are not standard issue in the military. That reminds me ... if you see anyone calling those damn psychic phone numbers; let me know, so I can go kick their ass.

13.Flyboy (Air Force), Jar Head (Marines), Grunt (Army), Squid (Navy) etc, are terms of endearment we use describing each other. Unless you are a service member or vet, you have not earned the right to use them. Could get your ass kicked.

14.Last but not least, whether or not you become a member of the military, support our troops and their families. Every Thanksgiving and religious holiday that you enjoy with family and friends please remember that there are, literally, thousands of sailors and troops far from home wishing they could be with their families. Thank God for our military and the sacrifices they make every day. Without them, our country would get its ass kicked.

I suspect Rudolph is not of the U.S. Maybe he does not understand the allied Holiday w/ this being an international forum.

Um...the US is not the only country with veterans who have fought honorably. He is simply a self-righteous idealogue who has no clue what is required to go to war.

I wanted to wish everyone a happy holiday, as well as my brothers in arm. Sorry I wanted to post this yesterday, but I was a wee bit toasty when I read the forums.

If toasty means you had a drink or two I wish I was as disciplined as you. Drinking and posting are not as mutually exclusive for me as they should be.[:D]

I think I drank a 12 pack of newcastle, then found I had a full beertender full of Newcastle unopened, so yeah I didn't want to make myself an ass by posting something stupid with all jibberish :D

i got this email from my father last night...i have to admit i had a tear in my eye when i responded...thanks again to all my fellow vets...

[Son,] Hope you have had a great day remembering those active days. Happy Veteran's day. They should give you guys the day off.

Thanks, Dad...I'm still extremely proud to have served this country with so many other well deserving Americans. We keep fighting, sacrificing, and remembering for all the rest of this country that may not truely understand what it really costs to be free...

I love you and my family that made it possible for me to have contributed the way I did....GOD BLESS AMERICA!!! and FLY NAVY!!!

PS - I've bitched about not having this day offf (to my company in the past - I actually sent an email to our CEO!!!), but in a sense, it is fitting that we don't have to bother the masses of America for this...peace in the homeland is what we all sacrificed for in the first place...

Hope all is well...
