Emergency patch for User Interface request

The team behind the award-winning game Advanced Tactics is back with a new and improved game engine that focuses on the decisive early days of World War II! Decisive Campaigns: The Blitzkrieg from Warsaw to Paris is the first in an innovative series of operational World War II wargames that also include a strategic element. The Blitzkrieg from Warsaw to Paris simulates Germany’s military successes in Poland and France in 1939 and 1940 (including also a hypothetical “Sea Lion” invasion of Great Britain).

Emergency patch for User Interface request

Post by willgamer »

OK, I've read all the threads, but after 100+ hours of game play frustration, it comes down to this-

The action keys: especially M, A, and Z, have got to cancel the action if pressed twice. I've accidently moved a unit more times than I can count. And don't tell me to use the spacebar because of the next item.

The spacebar must not strategically move a unit 0 hexes and count the unit as moved and the strat movement points as taken. This is a killer when you've been using the spacebar to cancel M movement.

As it now stands, the only safe cancel key is ESC and it can't be remapped to a more convenient key.

I love this game and want to play it more than anything else on my machine, but I can't face 10+ reloads/turn!

Help! [:(]

I have had a few accidental moves in all my time spent playing this game. Maybe you just should be more careful? Rightclick is also a very easy way to cancel things.

I have at least one of those each turn. I write it off as a miscommunication of orders to the regimental or divisional commander.[;)]

I get the occasional mismove also, using only the mouse. However, no more than in other games I play. I really don't see a problem with the UI in this game.

There ought to be an 'undo' option for the last move, unless it has caused a recon success.

But even then a "non-recon success" still "tells" you something ie "no units nearby" so it could still be used as an expoilt.

I'll work on the spacebar + strategic transfer issue.

thanks for taking the time to report!

I appreciate all the replies and have written or agreed with every point above at one time or another.

However, I'm trying to express my thoughts as someone experiencing, you might say, a temporary? brain disability. [:'(]

Probably because of bad? gaming habits I've developed over 30 years, whatever games I've been playing this last year, and because this game really engages me and makes me focus, I'm making WAY too many false moves. It's killing me...[:@]

I know the Vic is very responsive, but he's off to other projects. I was hoping to catch his attention if there is anything relatively quick, in his opinion, that could be done before he eventually returns to this game down the road.

p.s. Borsook- are you sure you've got the right game? right click does not undo move select for me [&:]

Vic,

Thank you!

I was working on my previous reply while you were posting.

If the spacebar safely canceled everything, that would help a great deal.

In the meantime I'll give up having a drink at dinner time [:-] and put a yellow ribbon around my keyboard's Esc key. [:D]
