Situation in Philippines;

Luzon is not too bad, even though my airpower there is now trashed. I will get all my ground units safely to Clark Field before Ramjet closes up.

Cagayan is a mess though, as his light-carriers have sunk all the resupply shipping that had just arrived from Java. Then last night he bought a heavy cruiser force in to bombarded the place. The bombardment only damaged 2 ships in the port, but it has damaged most of my airpower on the airfield. If there is an invasion force on the way now I am in big trouble, as most of my combat units have not arrived at Cagayan yet.

Let The Good-Times Roll, DivePac (A) v Ramjet (J), Allied AAR.

Post by DivePac88 »

Sorry I haven't been keeping up a commentary yet, but there's not much to say in the early part of a PBEM Scen 1 game. The first six months are all pain, and defeat for an Allied player, especially against a player of the caliber of Ramjet. It is basically delaying were you can, hit and run were you can, and pulling back in some places to fight another day.

I am working on my line in the sand at present, that is where I will build my strong points. But the basics are Ceylon and Bengal in India. The river lines in northern/southern china, and the northern foot-hills of the central Chinese plain. Timor/Darwin and Horn Island/ east coast in Aussie. Noumea (if I can get there first), Fiji/Pago Pago, Canton/Line Islands, Johnston/midway Islands, and Dutch Harbor.

But I'm flexible, and none of these areas are worth my Carriers and strategic infantry reinforcements. If he goes deep in any of these areas, I will adapt, and not throw assets away. I have followed Allied AARs for years, and have seen Japanese players sweep the map many times, because the Allied player has moved too early. Then having got into trouble because he though his reserves away trying to save trapped forces.

Will have more commentary soon.

Let The Good-Times Roll, DivePac (A) v Ramjet (J), Allied AAR.

LOG;

Have managed to unload the remaining Brigade of the 17TH Indian division at Rangoon, along with some supply. Ramjet spotted the convoy when it arrived 2 days ago, but has launched no attacks on it yet, even though the weather has been clear. I have 2x AVG Squadrons covering Rangoon as I was expecting trouble, so either all his LBA is in Malaya, or Saigon has been weathered in.

He continues to land troops at Mersing today, the full 56TH division I think. My Stringbags, Beasties, and Wirraway's attacked his shipping there today. But because they're dispersed over Southern Malaya, they only used bombs. But still they did manage to do some damage to some of his transports, and even got hits on a CL and a CA. Now if that Aussie brigade can hold for 1 more day, I should be able to get every unit safely into Singapore.

Have managed to move all the Aussie 'Bird' battalions to Timor, so when Ramjet gets there it should be a harder nut to crack. The 1ST Australian (militia) division is moving cross country toward the Darwin area, and will be the main defense for this area. I am also bringing the militia Brigade at Port Moresby up-to full strength. Also when the first equipment convoy arrives, I will use some of that equipment to fill-out the 3RD Motor Brigade as a fireman, till the Middle East divisions arrive.

No sign of KB as yet after it disappeared south west of Johnston Island, but there has been heavy radio traffic at Truk resistantly, so I suspect that is it's ware-abouts. Meanwhile my carriers are safely tucked up on the West Coast, with their air-groups training. Have started to reinforce Pearl Harbors Sentinel Islands with USMC defense battalions, and will do Pago Pago, and Fiji as Units become available.

Also Wake Island is still holding out, so I have a fast supply TF on the way, and will also mine it. I have managed to rebuild the fighter units at Pearl Harbor with modern aircraft including P-38Es, and also have most of the PBY units close to full strength. Finally I am reinforcing Dutch Harbor with a infantry regiment and some engineer units.

LOG,

Well today the wheels fell-off in Malaya, when Ramjet trashed the last of my airpower here at Johore Bahru. Had built-up the supply so the Stringbags and Beasties were loading torpedoes for strikes against the shipping at Mersing today. But thats war, and I was lucky to get one day's strike out of Ramjet.

In the Philippines, on Luzon all my units are either at Clark Field or Bataan, and I waiting for him to close-up. On Mindanao He has landed and taken Butuan to the east of Cagayan with a division (4TH I think). He has also landed and stormed Davao in the south with a regiment, and is now in the process of landing a tank unit at Dadjangas.

I think he will move on Kendari or Ambon soon, as there is a lot of shipping activity around Manado and Ternate. Also maybe moving on Rabaul or the Solomons Islands, as there has been heavy radio traffic at Truk two days in a row. Also air search is showing a heavy cruiser force at Manus, which has forced me to call off a troop-pickup in the Huon Gulf.

Finally at Wake, a force of DM's has managed to safely lay a minefield and retire. This Minelaying force also had an encounter with a RO-boat, and managed to escape damage while possibly damaging the Sub. A fast resupply force arrives at Wake tonight, and can hopefully unload and be away before light.
