Revolution under Siege: Russian Civil War Game with Ageods's RoP engine planned

Revolution Under Siege is a simultaneous turn based historical wargame that puts you in charge of one of the factions that fought the Russian Civil War (1917-1923). From a ragtag group of volunteers create the powerful Red Army, using all the weaponry and equipment at your disposal: planes, tanks, armored trains, Cheka troops and the Konarmia (the famous Red Cavalry). Or, on the opposite side, gather all patriots and reform the elite divisions that shall save Holy Mother Russia. Can you succeed in crushing the Bolshevik hydra? Or will the people’s Revolution prevail?

I'm looking forward to this game! Since this title will be available through Matrix which sells physical copies in addition to download copies, should I assume that a physical copy will be available unlike RoP which was download only?
Thanks.

Looks like an interesting treatment of a much ignored subject.

Will it cover aspects of intervention by the allied powers ?

Yes, the Allied powers are there, and events are dealing with the different aspects of their intervention. :)

No special reason. We've seen land and air units, so why not ships?

Requisitions, Force Conscription, Repression, Rinse, Repeat...

Post by CatLord »

Let me detail a bit more a system we have put in place to simulate the cycle of Requisitions, Force Conscription, Repression that happened during the whole war and led to the massive Tambov rebellion of 1920-1921.

This is a way in RUS to allow the player to take local decision on the map:

Image

The different options available are:

Image Requisition: This option will give you money at the cost of population loyalty in the region. Green faction loyalty will increase, at the risk of triggering peasants’ revolts.

Image Force Conscription: This option will give you conscripts at the cost of population loyalty in the region. Green faction loyalty will increase, at the risk of triggering peasants’ revolts.

Image Repression: This option will increase loyalty towards you in a region, but because you have taken harsh measures against the local population. Your conscripts’ pool will decrease.

Image Reform: This option will increase loyalty towards you in a region, because you have promise reforms to the benefits of the local population. This will costs you money, and even National Moral, as these reforms goes generally against the system you are promoting (collectivization or private property).

Image Subversion: This option will let you send agitators to decrease loyalty towards your opponent’s faction in a region deep inside the enemy lines. This will costs you money for the propagandists.

Note that to have an effect:

• All Regional Decisions but Subversion requires you have military control of the most important city in the region (i.e. the “local capital” of the region). Subversion requires that your opponent has the military control.
• All Regional Decisions effects are taken for a certain amount of time (generally 3 months, or 6 turns), and you can only take a limited amount of them
• The effect of the Decision will be applied at the end of the period (which means you need to have military control of the most important city in the region for the whole duration of the period)

(Note: not all Regional Decisions are accessible to all factions at all time, Some may only become available after certain events)

It's a great subject - a very interesting and complex conflict that has much more to it than most realize. I started gaming this when I met the author of the board game Triumph of Chaos at WBC one year and previewed his game for the Wargamer. I think you will enjoy this one too.

Great webside! You're acting really professional, having the demo out even before the release. Downloading now.

Oh and I like the political options described above.

I've cruised through some of the screenshots -It really does look promising.

I like the fact that it's about a not very well covered area of history. Plus a DEMO !!

Cat Lord, I'm having problems with installing the demo. It's locking up when I try to extract the files from the folder. Any advice?

There is only 1 file in the zip file...a 635MB .exe file. Can you double-click on the zip file and open it using Windows explorer? If so, you should be able to click on the .exe and copy it to your desktop or into a temporary directory. If not, maybe you got a corrupted download....

Can you report the problem on our tech forum, please ?

http://www.ageod-forum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=289

One thing for sure, is to extract the .exe from the zip in another folder, first.

Then run the .exe. Trying to run the .exe from inside the zip is sure to cause problem.

If extracting from the zip does not work, the download may be corrupt and you may have to download it again.

Looks interesting... Cat Lord do you know if there are any improvements for pbem (such as pbem security/improved file swap)? Ageod games are some of my favorite games that I never play. [:D]
