Parent formation list

Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem is a highly enhanced new release of Close Combat, using the latest Close Combat engine with many additional improvements. Its design is based on the critically acclaimed Close Combat – A Bridge Too Far, originally developed by Atomic Games, as well as the more recent Close Combat: The Longest Day. This is the most ambitious and most improved of the new Close Combat releases, but along with all the enhancements it retains the same addicting tactical action found in the original titles! Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem comes with expanded force pools, reserve & static battlegroups, a troop point buying system, ferry and assault crossings, destructible bridges, static forces and much more! Also included in this rebuild are 60+ battles, operations and campaigns including a new enhanced Grand Campaign!

Thanks xe5!
I wasn't sure if 501st PIR was a parent formation of 1st Battalion. Now I understand that all units inside the same division share the same higher HQ.

German paras under Feldt

Post by dbz »

The battle group badges for
  • Kampfgruppe Becker
  • Kampfgruppe Hermann
display
  • II.Fallsch.Korps
is it of any significance for the previously noted parent formation Feldt?

per Feldgrau.net:
KG Becker and Hermann were 2 KG formed from the remnants of 3rd and 5th FJ divisions, respectively. They fought near Nijmegan, with Corps Feldt and the 406th division zbV.
PegasusArchive.org indicates that the OOB for II Fallschirmjäger Korps consisted of 3rd FJ Div (KG Becker), 5th FJ Div (KG Hermann) and KG Greschick.

In LSA, all of II Fallschirmjäger Korps, KGs Becker, Hermann and Greschick, is operationally attached to Korps Feldt. The confusion stems, once again, from a problem with the game manual. 9.2.2 (p.27) says: "The Parent Formation is displayed in the upper right corner of the screen." While it is true that the actual parent formation icons are displayed on the Battlegroup screen, in terms of section 9.2.2 - Formation Point Pool - this is not true in all cases. For example - the 3 divisional icons are used for XXX Corps BGs rather than the XXX Corps "Boar" icon which would represent their parent formation in LSA.

The info came from a historical military map indicating the rough German battle group operational areas at the start of the campaign.
