Any way to increase build speed?

Post by Lonck »

apart from tech, are there other ways of increasing build speeds?
Also, do I need multiple manufacturing plants of the same type (e.g. industrial) for every construction arm?

You could just build yourself a massive construction base/space port and that should speed up construction times, but it will cost you a lot in upkeep.
Just edit the Large spaceport and double, tripple or more the number of various construction subsystems.

Problem with that is that I don't know which subsystems are responsible for build speeds.

I believe the Plant (not Lab) component controls component construction. There should be one of each type.
Shipyard speed is determined by Tech level though, that may be a limiting factor.

to add ,

try and disperse out your builds to different spaceports keeping in mind that resources are required for each build. If your missing a resource you are going to need to wait for freighters to bring the supplies.

Also if the spaceport is busy increase its size or add more bays to fit more ships it can repair or build.

do multiple manufacturing plants make any difference?

Im pretty sure they do.
I believe one of the constuction bays creates the components from raw materials... this one is not essential on a construction yard but its best to have them. I cant check the name right now, not at my gaming pc.
Its not essential because the components can be transferred from elsewhere.

However the other type of construction bay puts the components together into the ship hull I think. The more of these the faster it will happen.

did some tests on this, more manufacturers usually don't help as they are fast enough at creating the components
the speed of construction depends only on the shipyard and this cannot be improved by more of anything.
basically, the auto designs are ok in this respect and ships get build pretty fast so i found it ok to leave it as it is

My personal rule of thumb is usually +1 high-tech and energy plant per 3 yards, and +1 weapon per yard per 5 yards
I haven't looked too deep into whether this is the most efficient or not, but I tend to be able to churn out as many ships as I can based on supply
