Sudden loss of UV .exe and Updater files

Yesterday I went to fire up UV 2.0 and to my surprise found every shortcut to my .exe gone.

When I explored my UV folder, nothing was there bar the game's subfolders. No .exe and no updater.

When I usually insert my UV disk there is no "play" option only "Install UV" so I did this. This loaded UV 1.0 to which I manually applied my previously d'loaded UV 2.0 patch and all works fine - all files are there again including True Updater.

Any ideas as to what caused this? I did clean out a gig's worth out of my Temp file the other day. I also deleted what I thought were old .exe shortcuts from my desk top. But I did nothing to remove True Updater nor touch any UV folders including that in my Start Menu.

Only if she's hacking me - which I've worried about ever since I saw Fatal Attraction

Seriously though, that's all I can think of. Why else would they disappear.

I'd love to hear if anything mysterious like this has happened to anyone else.

Perhaps you chose the default directory when installing the patch and your 1.4 version was installed to a non-default directory? This game has a hard time remembering where you installed the game to.
