Carrier Groups withdrawl
I did a search for this, and did not come up with anything. It is feb '43 pbem, I am Allied. I have air groups on a few carriers that say they are to withdraw. I did a manual one on the Hermes, and have never received any replacment group, leaving that carrier without any planes. My USA big CV's are showing I have to withdraw some plane groups. do i do this manual, or leave it go an pay PP points to keep them? any help would be appreciated. The Cv's are docked in PH at the moment.
I thought this place was a empire, now im the last, I can't be sure...

RE: Carrier Groups withdrawl
Anybody? My PBEM turn is do shortly, and i need to send the CV'out.. Do i withdraw the airgroup set to withdraw by March of 43, or do nothing? IF i do withdraw, will the group left increase in size on its own, or do I have to adjust it to resize?

RE: Carrier Groups withdrawl
The US ones come back in 45 as VBF Groups. You should also have a size increase in the VF groups about the same time.

I didnt try, am I suppose to do that? it says withdraw March 1st. There has to be someone out there, that plays the allies and is past march '43 and knows what to do

here is a screen, I'm asking what happens if I withdraw this sqd. that will leave me 18 DB's short on the CV, will the other Sqd auto upgrade to 36 bombers? will a replacement Sqd show up? If anyone knows what to do and the options, please let me know.

I think the withdrawal of the VS squadrons in the game is following what happened in real life. In the middle of 1943 the VS squadrons were disbanded, or incorporated into the VB squadrons or groups, and the aircraft TOE's were increased to 36.

just withdraw this squadron and set the other one to "resize" and it will automatically resize to 36 when you enter a port within range of a command HQ. Could be working without a HQ too, not sure about that.
Then you will just have a fighter squadron with 36 fighters, a dive bomber squadron with 36 dive bombers and a torp squadron with 18 torpedo bombers.

Okay... I hate to resurrect this old thread but I have run into a weird problem: it is now late February 1943 in my PBEM and my VS squadrons all have both the Withdraw and Disband button greyed out.
What prerequisites must be met in order to disband or withdraw these squadrons as demanded? [&:]

Assuming the VS squadrons are still on the carriers, have you disbanded the carriers in a size 7+ plus port with 20k+ supply?
April 2, 1945. The USS Henrico, supporting the invasion of Okinawa, is struck by a Francis operating as a Kamikaze, killing 51. Among the wounded was the father of this poster.

In regards to Hermes, I think, there is a land based FAA Hellcat Sq. that shows up some time during mid to late 1944 on Ceylon. In the mean time you could use Hermes as an a/c transport.

The Brits get a lot of FAA squadrons that arent on carriers. Use them. As for the grayed out buttons, transfer them to a land base.

Not yet... I just brought them into one and so will have to try that. I transferred one of the squadrons to the base but it still wouldn't disband, so I reloaded the game with it still on the ship.

Yep, that did the trick. Disbanding the TFs in the port allowed me to disband the squadrons. As long as you have the VB squadrons set to "Resize to fit ship" they will immediately resize to 36 aircraft.

The VS squadrons are withdrawn but you get an increase in the size of the VB to compensate. Its really a form of reorganisation.
The Brit CV units aren't. If you need them move them ashore. When the CV comes back you can put them back. You should also note that the larger Br CV initilally only have around 30 a/c. Once they upgrade (early 44 I think) they carry 50. so some of those 6 plane FAA sqn that you get as reinforcements can be transferred and resized to fill out.
