So what does it look like we have here folks? Attack and low level bombers working as they should. Some CV arrival dates bumped up 2 weeks, looks like Japanese late war ASW might be dialed back a bit. Lots of other goodies......thanks dev team. Can't wait to see the practical effect.

No this was a data fixc not an exe fix apart from a couple of showstoppers

Thanks Andy, but you will have to excuse my thickness, so just to get it strait please;

I know that the data changes will not take effect in my PBEM game, unless I restart.

But are the code changes also exe changes, and will they take effect in my current PBEM game?

But the Land Radar and the Attk Bomber got fixed.  GREAT NEWS!!!

Can't wait to try it out!!!

Plus the barge refuel issue that caused occasional game lockups.

Joe, in one of the big updates for WITP there was included the choice to apply the database updates to existing games. Is there a chance that this will ever be incorporated into one of the AE updates? I'd like for my units to have the correct data but am reluctant to start our PBEM all over...

edit: dang typos!

Patch 05 works the same way patch 02 worked ... you can update the "master data" that does not change in the game ... but not the master data that does. So things like Device, Aircraft and ShipClass data can be updated, but not Airgroup, Ship or Land Units. As subsequent upgrades to items like Ships take effect, the class changes would be introduced into the ongoing game. Same with devices, as device upgrades go into effect, they would be introduced into an ongoing game. But there is no easy way to push all data changes into ongoing games because the number of data transformation scenarios that would need to be handled would at least number into the hundreds and we do not have the resources to code and test all those transformations.

There is no need to start a PBEM over - just keep playing the PBEM - and enjoy!

I may be dense here and not fully understand one type of patch from another, but does this patch fix the air search 'search-arc' problem talked about in other threads?

I note that all the Tojo models are now supposed to use the Ha-34 engine. Having applied the new patch this is the case for a new scenario 1 but scenario 2 and 6 still show the Ha-35 engine for the Tojo models. I did not see any errors when I applied the patch and the release notes do say that the data changes should apply to scenarios 1,2,6.

It would break an awful lot of games if the Tojo were to suddenly switch engines in the middle of the game! [:D] Just imagine: a player has been working assiduously to expand Nakajima Ha-35 engine production to meet the needs of his Tojo building program while carefully tuning Nakajima Ha-34 production to ensure his Helen bombers are properly supplied. After the patch, though, those 240 Tojo's being made every month are short 240 engines! [X(]

No.

This fix should be out "fairly quickly".... See this thread: Patch 05 and beyond !

At last count, I had about 90+ items for the next patch, consisting of actual bug fixes (collected since previous patch), correction/standardizing some of the the interfaces, a few tweaks.

Just a quick question on my part. I have noticed that if I upgrade my current PBEM game all my KI44IIA Tojo are immediately using the HA34 engine instead of the HA35. That is a big problem as it screws my plane building completely. What is the solution to this? Do I have to not upgrade the database?

Thanks a lot.
