Early and Late 3d icon changes

Post by crh3 »

Hello everyone, I hope that someone can help me with an annoying problem. I have made some 3D icons for early and late war Italian vehicles, mostly camo changes. I know that many german, british, etc. vehicles have different icons that are used depending on the time period. The alternate icons are located in the \Special folder found in the game directory. The alternates are labeled E-Up01001.bmp, and L-Up01001.bmp (for example the Panzer I. There are also S-Up icons for snow). This all seems simple enough, but when I put in my icons in the \Special folder as E-Up02001.bmp and L-Up02001.bmp then nothing changes for 1930 or 1945 scenarios. The 3d icons are still the standard Up02001.bmp. Is there some other file that must be changed? What am I doing wrong.

PS great game, great forum, great group of guys/gals.

It could be that the Italian's weren't coded for early or late war camo as they have two different nation slots for when the Italians switched from Axis to Allies.

Indeed only a few countries are programed to use this. An alternative would be to use JSGME to enter the icons on demand for whenever you want to use them. It's very easy to use, it overwrites the existing files, saving them in a backup folder!!
