WitE Developer Diary

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

I would be happy if someone would just tell us it it will be released before Christmas. That way I can plan my Christmas wish list accordingly (and also how I will spend my holiday hours)!!

Announcing a date won't make the actual release day come any sooner.

What if they release a date, which is maybe more than a month away, then there is a hangup in between that delays it by a few weeks?  Wouldn't people feel a little betrayed?

Unless there is a last minute problem, the game should be released before Christmas. I think Erik posted somewhere that the manual was being printed and I think is due in within a week (if it hasn't already arrived), so that's one less problem that could come up. Really, we are all working to get this out before Christmas, but there's always a chance for some last minute issue that could delay things. Hopefully things will go smoothly.

Enjoyed that bit of design history of WitE. Thanks for that, Joel! Very glad to see you had a Russian as part of the development crew, too. We already know so much about Germany. It's the USSR that is still a tough subject to break open historically.
Best regards,
