Because I have neglected my AAR for our game so much......I fear when I do post....no one reads it.....all turning to read your fine AAR....to keep up on our war......also, although most of the last 4 months for me has been mad at work the fact that the UK is cold/snowy...means the filming on my project in Scotland is patchy for the next week or two gving me a touch more free time......hmmm... I must have more excuses.....[;)]

I'll give you a rundown on my first try, played until mid February.

At first view, the Indian Army seems to be very brittle and spread out across Burma, just like IRL. Any reinforcements seemed doomed with having to hold Rangoon for so long to receive them. Some Chinese "Divisions" arrive after about 45 days at Imphal? and later at Lashio.

First turns are slow, the IJA is crossing the ranges into Burma, I began to evacuate Tavoy and decided to defend Moulemein, Pegu & Rangoon before deciding on a strategy for Upper Burma.

On 6/1/42 the IJA I/143 attacked my retreating Tavoy forces without success, but after a bit of bombarding on 12/1/42 a shock attack pushed back 2 Burma Bde .

Mergui fell 18/1/42 to 112 Rgt, only a base force defending the base.

In the meantime I had been finding Bns to send to Moulmein & Pegu and the first reinforcements had been arriving. The RAF & AVG had started well and caused heavy losses to the IJAAF, especially to Sally's over Rangoon but with limited AV pts they were slowly wearing down and victories were getting harder to achieve.

On 27/1/42 the IJA attacked Moulmein and despite heavy losses cleared the town on first try.

and Rangoon entered and attacked on 7/2/42.
However the garrison of Rangoon held out, shock attacks came in at 1 to 99 or similar and very heavy losses incurred by the IJA.
Sadly for the AI, the entire IJA force moved into Rangoon, allowing a Gurkha Bde which was in Toungoo to slip back into Pegu and block the IJA supply.

I've played up to 21/2/42, the IJA is going nowhere, and the Allied mobile force is 1 understrength Bde so I am at a point where I dont see any use in continuing unless Andy says there isanother IJA Division coming.

I think what I will do is move some of the Jap Bns back one hex so it will take a few days more to cross the frontier.

I had some fun with it last night I need to stop playingit to re write the AI and put in the missing air sqns

For any interested in the era, an interesting read is THE ONLY ENEMY by Brigadier Sir John Smyth, V.C.
CO of 17th Indian Division who ordered the blowing of the Sittang River bridge.

Thanks Jeff v4 is up I madea few changes to the map as well to help the AI.

I think I need to tweak VP's a little although the AI lost a lot of bombers so if I put some more fighters into VP should help te Ai

Anyway v4 should be stable and playable by both sides.

I am considering breaking up some sqns into flights for v5 to give players more options
