Mr. Challenge,

I do work for tech support. I think the basic problem was that I tried to answer a question on an application that I do not possess at the moment. I was relying on info I had read on this forum. In an effort to conserve Matrix bandwidth I chose brevity. Sorry if I confused anyone.

Guess my avatar matches today.

Scenarios from V7.1 will sometimes sort of work but often will not.

Even if they seem to work, they may be out of balance due to differences in the OOB data that Panzer Leo used.

At least that is what I have found.

Some conversions to H2H I made were very easy since they were small scenarios. Merely replace all units with ones in the H2H OOBs and test. Larger scenarios will be one heck of a lot more work to convert.

I plan to create 4-5 H2H scenarios per month...... if I don't weaken. LOL

No offense meant; I'm in TS also. It's a line from an old joke I use everytime I get a non-answer from someone.

Well after reading all of the threads about H2H I could not stand it any longer and downloaded it. Great job Panzer Leo. I made a separate installation of SPWAW and installed H2H and it works great.

Just when I though I could catch up on some sleep.

One q first: Doom, are you trying to run directly from the mech.exe file? The opening sequence can bug out if you run from the default spwaw file. :p

I took the plunge also. Great job Panzer Leo! I have decided I will be using H2H for my next Multi-Player Combat Campaign. Just need to decide what time period and theater it will take place.

Thanks for your kind comments, guys ! :)

To have H2H on your Campaign, Double Deuce is quite an honor

I have your "book of rules" on my desk and took a closer look at your campaigns already a while ago and have to say they are very impressive...this is "really serious" wargaming

We have established some good support now for H2H in terms of scenarios and campaigns and as it gets more popular, the number of scenarios increases quite rapidly with new designers joining...

A lot of people have now been involved in H2H in the one or other way and I'm pretty proud of what we were able to achieve...so a big thanks to all who supported me in the past and the ones still doing... :)

When did the download and install I got an error message saying a dll was not found. I tried to install in a different folder because I didn't to mess up my original files. Do you need to install over the existing 7.1 to get it to work correctly? If so, the bugs may be due to something in the original director that isn't included in the H2H set up packaging.

I haven't ried this out yet because of other things going on this weekend. But plan on doing a reinstall of 7.1 in a new folder and then install H2H over it soon.

It needs to overwrite your existing SPWAW. I installed SPWAW a second time an inserted an 01 at the beginning of the default path to have two distinct copies of the game on my hard drive.

The path looked like this
c:\01MatrixGames\SteelPanthersWorldatWar

I can't remeber if there are spaces between the words Steel Panthers World at War so just insert a number infront of the default path.

I then installed the H2H version on top of the new installation and it worked fine.

Hope this helps

Yep, you have to install it over a proper running version of SPWAW. It has not to be v7.1, the H2H mod can be installed over any version from 5.0 on (the one included in the Mega Campaign Desert Fox).

The best thing is to make a second install (do not copy your existing game into a different folder, but make a fresh new install) and then run the H2H selfextractor on that new install...that's all.
There're no known problems to me, if you follow this path...all "not running" H2H versions I heard of sofar were caused by mistakes in installing, typically being:

- H2H selfextractor not directed to correct SPWAW folder
(note that Matrix had two ways to name the first folder: "MatrixGames" and "Matrix Games").
Mixup of this is the most common error.

- Copying of your existing SPWAW version to a different folder and then installing H2H on it works 9 out of 10 times...I know a few who hit the 10th...

these cover 90% of all problems I heard of till now...so nothing that cannot be solved fearly easy :)

I went at it a bit differently. I renamed my existing SPWAW game and installed a fresh copy using defaults. Then installed H2H over the fresh copy. It was perfect!

Well finally did it.

Post by Don Doom »

I renamed my old 7.1 to spwawar and the new one spwaw, then h2h and then the h2h patch.
Works now!!:D

Questions though!

Post by Don Doom »

I have some questions on some of the pictures. will post as I find them, these are just questions as to why they where used and not for them to be replaced. Ok panzer Leo.
first one is the 105mm for the germans, if I remember[old man syndrome here] the picture used is for the 150mm k18 I think.
second one using Paul Husser for the Komender. He is worthy of the tittle thou!

Thats it for now.:D :D
