Buy a donkey, you'll go faster !

Revolution Under Siege is a simultaneous turn based historical wargame that puts you in charge of one of the factions that fought the Russian Civil War (1917-1923). From a ragtag group of volunteers create the powerful Red Army, using all the weaponry and equipment at your disposal: planes, tanks, armored trains, Cheka troops and the Konarmia (the famous Red Cavalry). Or, on the opposite side, gather all patriots and reform the elite divisions that shall save Holy Mother Russia. Can you succeed in crushing the Bolshevik hydra? Or will the people’s Revolution prevail?

Buy a donkey, you'll go faster !

Post by nukkxx5058 »

19 days for my Air Force to go from Vaasa to Lahti in the tutorial game ?
11 days for my train to cross the country ?

Gloops ! I'd better buy a donkey ...

Any idea what's wrong ?

You need to entrain the air units to make them move faster. They consist of not only the planes, but all the equiptment / resources etc to build an airbase. You are effectively pushing your planes along the ground if you dont put them on the train!

Well, thanks. And what about the time it takes to my train to move to the next city ?

Well, trains move at one region a day. Limitation of the game engine.

I get the feeling that you really don't appreciate the size of the country.
As stated regarding air units, they need to be entrained. As for a train taking 11 days to cross the country, that seems quite reasonable to me. maybe even a little too fast when you consider loading and unloading times and the state of the rail system at this time.

Regarding the finnish train, the scenario takes place in a small area in Finland. Distance from Savovinna to Tempere is about 300 km (http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&tab=wl).

I know we are in the early 19's but my donkey would really be faster than this train :-))

Sorry, I was thinking if the GC.

A possible problem might be broken lines. If you have armoured trains and cross an area of broken line it will repair the line as it goes but take 10 times the amount of time to cross that area.

This is the tutorial scenario (the third I think). Maybe you can try to reproduce the move ?

Rail movement is a combination of rail and foot movement. Your forces move by rail, but if they enter an area where you can't move by rail they cross by foot.
I think what is happening is there are areas where you don't have sufficient military control. you can't rail across those areas, so your forces area marching over these areas.
