It looks very "PG"!

Fans of the old Panzer General series rejoice for the release of Panzer Corps. Following in the footsteps of the popular SSI masterpiece and sharing with the General series the same level of engagement and strategic depth, Panzer Corps will keep an unmistakable "PG feeling" whilst improving and refining the gameplay and balance. Panzer Corps will feature 26 scenarios on 21 unique maps, covering most major battles of the European Theatre of World War II and including a few hypothetical 'what if' scenarios based on your actions. Now expanded with a full-war mega-campaign and the Afrika Corps and Allied Corps releases!

It looks very much like PG.
Is this a remake or a completely new game?

The guy that made PG Forever got together with Slitherine and Lordz Game Studios to make this.

What about aircraft in Panzer Corps? I would like to see missions from airbases each turn rather than aircraft flying around for multiple turns. That's one feature from the old PG that annoyed me. And PG Forever still kept that so I'm curious if this is being reconsidered?

I hope they stay close to the original with just the promised few tweaks. I still play the latest version of PG Forever on Win7 right now and have a blast with it.
Please Matrix Games and developers make a good online component that works well I would love to play online against others in a easy fashion.
Also a good level editor would be a welcome addition and if possible custom maps that can be uploaded for online play or at least home play.

I hope we get some more information, media, etc soon.

Online mode will be provided via Slitherine's Active PBEM server, which I think is a good news. As for the editor, we don't promise to provide it one day one, because we will concentrate a lot of effort on the game itself, but we are committed to provide it as soon as possible. Internally we are already using the editor for some months, we'll only need to polish it to a user-friendly state.

Custom maps can be used in online multiplayer, and it is not needed to upload them anywhere - if an opponent accepts your challenge on a custom map, he will get the required map/scenario automatically.

At this point it is too early to go into details here, but the following areas of the game will be moddable:

- Maps
- Scenarios
- Campaign
- Equipment table
- A lot of game aspects like terrain types, movement methods, weather zones, nations etc.
- All graphics (units, tiles, flags etc.)
- Layout of the UI

An open question is to what extend the AI will be customizable (if at all).

May I suggest you find a way to combine Pacific General into your design. The naval aspect of PacGen is much better and we'll be able to get the Pacific Theater. This game looks really good.

We have spent some time discussing this, but concluded that PG model was, in fact, quite adequate. It has several important advantages:
- It is familiar to PG fans
- It is very simple and intuitive to use: if you know how to use ground units, you already know how to use planes.
- Planes hanging around on the map give the opponent a chance to react on his own turn, e. g. by bringing in AA units or fighters and attacking your bombers.
- It allows to model a lot of important aspects of air war, like: air defense fire, interceptors, mass attacks of one enemy unit with several friendly ones, disrupting supply lines of units and cities with planes etc.

I think that we should introduce a different air combat system only if it provides all these features, and in addition, gives us some new important advantage.

However, we do plan to reduce the fuel of aircraft so that they cannot fight through an entire scenario without returning to base several times.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to do all good things at once. ;) We plan to explore Pacific theater in a sequel, and at that point we will revisit the naval aspect of the game. Also, at that time we will add all the required units for pacific war (japanese etc.). But in the first game our focus will be on things which are important for European theater, because this will benefit the players more.
