Erik, great news about the nuanced ship design - on another, smaller UI note: would love to scroll through the different races' diplo trading screens without having to go in and out?

It appears Matrix has a policy of non price disclosure for upcoming titles. When the game is available you will know the price at that time. I don't necessarily agree, but its their right as a company to do so. It also is the right of the customer to evaluate all the information prior to making a purchasing decision... such a fine balance.

RE: Distant Worlds: Return of the Shakturi
Having just found this expansion thread (I am not good at forums...), I am quite excited for this release. Naturally, I will buy it the instant it is out.
I would like to comment on wormholes or the like. I do think that they would add a very interesting aspect to the game. As with all empires, the greatest of which are founded on their ability to communicate and travel quickly, so I think the option of generating galactic shortcuts would be really cool and make galaxy travel more strategic, in my opinion.
I think it's just a personal weakness of mine, but coming from Sins of a Solar Empire, I have a hard time dealing with the ability to travel directly from one system to another. I don't know if this is already included in DW, as the scale is pretty big for me to have overcome the learning curve yet, but I see the connections between DW and the Civ series. Mountain ranges are pretty clutch in Civ V and can really define empires. I would really like to see some sorts of galactic anomalies that are impossible to traverse. I always feel like I am fighting a war on infinite fronts, lol.
Much love to all involved with DW. Keep up the great work!

As blastpop indicated, Matrix generally doesn't disclose prices for their games until they're available for sale in their store. Given that the original game's usual (non-sale) price is $40 (U.S.), though, I would guess the expansion will sell for around $25-30.

Isn't there usually a period of quiet before a release is announced? Could this be it?

I have not been reading through the entire thread, so what is about pre-game-settings, especially I wonder, if it will be possible to set the number of planets a faction starts with?

Probably already asked but will the in-game Galactopedia or whatever it's called [:)] be updated with the expansion?

Here are a few more screenshots to hold you over. We are currently still iterating to get to a gold master candidate. We are very close and that could happen any day this week. We are hoping it will happen this week so that we will be able to release next week, but until we have a confirmed gold master build we can't project an exact release date.
