Detaching Air Units from a base

I can split A/C from surface & air groups but this command doesn't seem to work with A/C in formation with a base in Commander's Edition. The split-unit dialog box comes up but nothing seems to happen. Is this a known issue?

I'm sorry, I cannot reproduce the issue and will need some more specific instruction.

In the attached screenshot I just split an AEW bird from formation and have the dialog open to split another plane off into its own group.

May of been a 'reboot' issue as it happened in two games in a row Sunday night but not at all last night...
