Opponent wanted

Post by matt.buttsworth »

Hello,

I am a great Gary Grisby fan since WIR.

So exciting that War in the East is now available.

I am setting it up now.

I want a PBEM opponent for the Grand Campaign. I would play Russia.

Perhaps a scenario first.

Please PM me if you are interested or send an email to matthew_buttsworth@yahoo.com

Click on the 'Multiplayer' tab in game and then register. After you do that, you can issue challenges, accept challenges, and continue your ongoing PBEM games.

There are 3 ways to conduct a game with another opponent.

Hotseat with both of you there on the same computer.

Then there is PBEM where you click the PBEM button on the main page prior to selecting the game that you want to play. You will be required to add in a password for these type games. One thing to note on pbem games is that the player that moves second actually sets up the starting conditions then emails it to his opponent. When you finish each turn, advance it to the next player turn and it will then save as a .psv file in your savegame folder. You will have to then take that psv file and email it to your opponent. He then adds in his password and the file will open.

Finally there is Multiplayer which is similar to pbem except that the game is saved on the Slitherine server rather than your own computer. Select Multiplayer on the main page and that will take you to a log in page, fill that in, register if it is your first time then you can log in to the server. There you can create a new game referred to as a Challenge. These will be listed in the upper right box on your own screen but displayed in the bottom right box for everyone else to see. You can select a Challenge from that lower right box that someone else created. You can review the set up conditions by highlighting the game and clicking on View Options. Once a game is selected, then it is listed on the left under My Games.
