No purchase without phone number ?

If you do not have /or you are not willing to share/ phone number then you are not able to purchase this game ?

I ordered the game, paid via PayPal (transaction succesfully, money charged from my account and sent to Plimus) but instead of download link after payment, I got pending order.

After two hours another mail appear that my phone number is wrong (yes i know, i do not have one, it is a crime ?)

So now I'm looking for a way how to cancel my order and get my money back...very nice customer experience, thank you.
I think that those five or six games that I bought from Matrix in previous years must keep me happy, no new titles with this bogus digital service. It seems to me that Steam is my only choice now for good games and digital download option, just pick the title, pay and download immediately.

Hi Arkady,

Yes, a phone number is generally required for most fraud checks and for shipping. With that said, canceling the order was completely unnecessary. I could have cleared that for you manually in a matter of minutes. All you had to do was post here and be patient, or contact our help desk. We are happy to clear an order manually, but we can't avoid asking for a phone number.

Thank you for offer but for me it is unaceptable, I like digital download for simple and quick way how to get anything you want, and not receiving emails with info that pending can take up to 12 hours. It seems to me that my money are not welcome. And I'm curious why phone number and especially adress is important for digital download ? [8|] For example I really hate eshops that want registrations before purchase, it stop me from impulse buys.

I take your point on download orders. I will ask if it's possible to have the phone not be a required field for download orders. I'm not sure if that's possible - DR also required it, but they apparently did not have a check to make sure it was a valid phone number.

Nope, any valid phone number is fine. It's used for the anti-fraud checks and I think most payment methods require it for that.

Most orders do not go to review - normally it has to set off a few flags to cause that. A fake phone number or one that doesn't match what's on record with your payment method, an address change from previous orders, an e-mail change, a difference between your actual IP location and where you say you are in the billing, etc. stuff like that in combination can trigger a review, which normally does not take long - a few minutes during business hours normally.

Everything is smooth , the download took 20 minutes and installation went without problem

How can this thing prevent a fraud ?
If I stole some credit card or PayPal account info then I'm able to use pre-paid card anonymous phone number and confirm the order anayway...

btw did anyone read Plimus privacy policy ? I'm afraid of visiting their site, I do not trust them that they can secure all this data...
