Select Ground Units to Produce?

Post by SoopSandwich »

I can't figure this out. Is it possible as the allies to select which type of ground units to produce? Say I wanted more airborne units or marine units can I somewhere put these into production? I skimmed the manual and searched the forum but could not find an answer.

Thanks,

Neither side produces ground units. You get what's in the reinforcement queue.

Besides, isn't that what the editor is for?

IMHO, you should have enough specialty ground units to do what you need to do as either side.  Just don't waste them!

Thanks for the replies.

I know there are plenty of ground units (so many that I can't keep track of them all!) but I thought you could select what units you wanted.  Is there a way to speed up or queue what you want replaced first and if so where can I find that (I thought I had seen it somewhere before)?  Sorry for the basic questions, I have little experience with this game.

No, this is not a real time strategy game where you get to choose your Order of Battle...what you get is the actual Order of Battle from the Pacific Theatre in World War II.

The Japanese side is given a minor amount of control over what is produced in the way of ships and planes, but can not order units that did not historically exist.

The exceptions to the Historical Order of Battle rule are the scenarios such as Scen 2 or the Iron Man scenario that have an expanded (fictional) Japanese Order of Battle to give the Japanese AI better chance of being competative. Both of these scenarios are really designed to be played as Allies against a Japanese AI.

Well as shark7 stated not OOB, but I think the OP is talking about replacements to unit devices on map ...
[*]So you can turn off replacements to all other troops and
Haven't tested this much but some other ideas --
[*]make them have plenty of supply,
[*]be near a HQ
[*]have enough Arm and Veh points.
[*]restmode ?

etc ...

As others have said there's no way to speed up filling the pool of replacements or to choose what is to be produced. However, there is a way to somewhat control what goes out to some units under the LCU upgrade mechanics. Some LCUs have upgradable TOEs (those in yellow on the LCU detail screen, or available in easier form in Tracker.) You can prevent units from upgrading by setting Replacements to Off and/or never putting the unit in Rest mode and/or never stationing them at bases with x2 required supplies. That will force the unit to keep its old, outdated TOE once its upgrade date comes along. In that way you can steer the pool devices toward those LCUs you want to upgrade earlier than others. This is especially important in the Austrailian forces, and the Indian army.

Upgrading LCUs is a bit harder to manage than ship upgrades due to the interface, but it's possible. I can't recco Tracker highly enough for being able to cut the data different ways and see the whole list of upgrade options in one place.
