<laughter> Of course those are doing skip-bombing @ 100ft and skip-bombing is supposed to be the most accurate of the bombing techniques. The problem with the Oscars is the ordenance... Those are 15kg bombs... <more laughter>.

Hi guys,

I suffered a computer crash and lost some really cool toys. One of those was a program one of the forum members wrote that basically reads all of the reports and places events on a map. It's a really great tool but for the life of me I can't seem to find it. If anyone knows the tool I'm talking about can you post me a link here?

No - it's not Tracker... It's Combat Report or something like that...

Regarding air losses - yup - they seem to be pretty bad but I'm hurting him too (or at least I hope so!). My bombing runs are getting in and my escorts are doing a fair job. Most of my heavy losses have been with unescorted bombers running into heavy base CAPs. In e-mail Fionn seems to think I'm experiencing heavier losses then I am - which I hope is to my advantage. I guess I'll find out soon...

that above intel shot is what I am speaking of........18 zero's and 13 Oscar's lost in air to air combat.........that is pretty bad if that ratio is every day.

What was his losses today on the intel screen. Because it looks like he is winning the air war, and his pilot losses are small because this is happening over his bases and not yours. Just looks scary.

So A lot of losses in the air over Palembang. Part of this might be my pilot EXP which bounces between 50-65 depending on the air unit. Losses are exceeding my training program. It seems almost impossible to coordinate enough air groups to attack something CAPed like this. I want to kill the airbase but now I'm having 2nd thoughts. I don't see any other options tho...

that above intel shot is what I am speaking of........18 zero's and 13 Oscar's lost in air to air combat.........that is pretty bad if that ratio is every day.

What was his losses today on the intel screen. Because it looks like he is winning the air war, and his pilot losses are small because this is happening over his bases and not yours. Just looks scary.

His losses are lighter on this report then mine (I assume due to FoW). No matter how I slice it the loss ratio is heavy in his favor.

Actually there have been several options available but as it is now mid May you have wasted precious time which has diminished the attractiveness of the alternatives. To help you change your mindset, mull over these issues.

1. In this scenario, it is not a sine qua non that Palembang be captured early. Both the initial at start stockpiles plus the attractiveness of other raw material production locations meant that a frontal assault on a very heavily reinforced Palembang, which is what you have been doing for months now, has not been the smart option.

2. American carrier air units are present at Palembang. That means the American carriers are not around to contest your naval operations. Operations which you normally would have been hesitant to undertake without the presence of the KB to protect your invasion forces from Allied carriers have always been feasible. There has been a lack of Japanese imagination.

3. Part of your intell gathering activities against a player such as Nemo, is to be completely au fait with the at start locations of enemy units and when they are scheduled to be withdrawn. Are you aware of how many of the Allied fighters over Palembang are scheduled to be withdrawn in the next 4-6 weeks? Does it make much sense to go up in a frontal assault against units which in a short period of time will not be there (and if they do remain, the PP cost will be crippling with a significant impact elsewhere)?

4. Have you considered how the enemy has been able to reinforce and maintain his festung Sumatra? For every positive action, there is always a negative tradeoff.

Mull over the above, post screenshots of where the frontlines are and you will start to get suggestions from others. Too much time has been wasted but there are still some opportunities for Japan.

I've got that hurt look in my eyes in regards to the fighter sweeps below... I moved in zeroes from Johoru Nahru, Sinkawang, Siagon, & Camrahn Bay to join zero air groups already located @ Singapore. I set all of the zero air groups to sweep George Town. What could I have done different to get all the zeroes to sweep @ the same time? What did I do wrong? Any ideas?

When it has supplies, i *think* it can. Test it with an AG and SC at the Home Isles to be sure.

Too many Zeros attacked in small packets. You've swept at the top altitude, but Hurricanes and Lightnings win the ceiling game, therefore putting Zeros at supreme disadvantage (they both get bounced and get the least benefit from superior MVR). I prefer to keep Zeros at 15k and send Oscars, that can fly over Hurricanes, at the top altitude, until Allies get a lot of Lightnings, at least. Also, it is likely that your pilots are inferior now, due to losses early in the game.

There are several AG's for IJN .... and the DC's chenge for the SC's as well ... so the correct answer is mostly yes. But I think I found some combinations of DC's and smaller AG's that would not load.

d0mbo - well I'l gunna find out <grin>. I can also mive 57 naval support to the base and get the same results but I kinda have most of my naval support tied down in other areas...

FatR - yeah - I noticed the multiple zero attacks too <wry grin>. I had moved my fighters to different bases like Singkawang, Siagon, & Bangkok and then sent them all to Singapore when I was ready for my attack. What I thought would happen was that all of the zero air groups would sweep @ the same time. They came from the same base, flew at the same altitude, and had the same target. My feelings got hurt over that turn...

PaxMondo - I've got a TF with an AG loading @ Tokyo. The book says the AG can tend & rearm small craft (except for torpedoes). It's not like Japan has a lot of AKE... <grin>.
