any chance of an update release for the holidays?

Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem is a highly enhanced new release of Close Combat, using the latest Close Combat engine with many additional improvements. Its design is based on the critically acclaimed Close Combat – A Bridge Too Far, originally developed by Atomic Games, as well as the more recent Close Combat: The Longest Day. This is the most ambitious and most improved of the new Close Combat releases, but along with all the enhancements it retains the same addicting tactical action found in the original titles! Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem comes with expanded force pools, reserve & static battlegroups, a troop point buying system, ferry and assault crossings, destructible bridges, static forces and much more! Also included in this rebuild are 60+ battles, operations and campaigns including a new enhanced Grand Campaign!

Good riddance to 'tunneling' BGs...
17.4.1 Deploying Battle Groups - NEW
A Battle Group is considered “deployed” once it has fought a battle on its current map as the front line Battle Group. A Battle Group that has not yet deployed is indicated with a green downward arrow on the Battle Group icon. Until a Battle Group has deployed it is restricted in how it may move on the strategic map and where it may place its teams during pre-battle setup.

Until a Battle Group is deployed it may only exit a contested map (one with an enemy Battle Group present) by returning to the map it came from. If this move is not possible (due to losing the Victory Location corresponding to the map connection) then the Battle Group may not move at all until it deploys. There is no restriction on strategic movement from friendly controlled maps, regardless of whether a Battle Group is deployed or not.

During battle, a Battle Group that is not yet deployed may only place its teams in setup zones that are connected to its entry Victory Location via friendly controlled territory. A deployed Battle Group can leave a map via any friendly controlled exit, and set up teams in any friendly controlled territory. Movement or setup restrictions due to destroyed or enemy controlled bridges still apply, however.

so...if an undeployed BG is the reserve BG, and we can now borrow teams from the reserve BG for free, where do those borrowed squads get to deploy?

Teams borrowed from the reserve BG are subject to the setup restrictions of the reserve BG. If the reserve BG is not yet deployed then teams borrowed from the reserve BG can only be set up in the setup zones ‘attached’ to the reserve BG’s entry VL.
