Cannot open from game file; worked once

I was happy that the latest patch fixed the very annoying problem of being unable to open the application by just opening the game file. It worked just one time with the patch and now is back to the old, annoying bug.

Is there any reason why it worked once and anything to tinker with to figure out how to get back to that working again?

What I'm talking about is when your PBEM opponent emails you his turn. You can download the file, double-click and TOAW used to load. Now it tries to and then crashes.

What OS are you on? Also, what patch level?

Win 7. It always works after the first patch and then never again.

Same with creating the map. Works once; then never again.

Really hope you can fix and figure out. Very cumbersome to have to keep restarting the application every time.
