So um....I think I've found a problem with the 3.4.191:
Why does this screen show up in the attack planner if nobody is attacking?
I noticed in the amount-of-turn-burned status line that 0% of the turn was used but 100% of the turn will be burned if the attacks were executed *right now*. So I started looking through the attacks using the attack planner to find the offending 100% dude and THIS screen shows up.
I'm posting the save file for this bad boy in case SOMEBODY wanted to diagnose what's wrong.
maybe it's still too early for me to comment on it... Alas, how/when/where did you notice that "100% of the turn will be burned...". I used your.SAL, went straight to HGr Sued and inspected the front at Melitopol and the Ic showed me this (see attached). Overall stats are: Turn used: 0%, Planned combats: 20% and... in my case some of the Lufwaffe units wouldn't support my attack, unlike in yours... :O
What about the sitrep, the toaw.log ain't works, as we know, in 3.4.191...

That's what the status line said when I made my mouse cursor hover over the area with the ring of stars.

Yeah, but did you notice that not one of the units showing in the Melitopol "attack" was attacking anything. Not even the aircraft. And yet it says that some of the turn will be expended in the "attack".

I'm not sure why your numbers are different from mine.

Klink
Alas, I've already deleted the sitrep file. Ooops.

Ralph changed this to cycle through potential combats. See section IX, item 3, in the 3.4 What's New.
send me the last .SAL before you condlude your attacks, a screenshot of a planned attack and the sitrep AFTER the attacks. I'll load the .SAL and then I'll see what's different (ok, the random chance...). Still, I am curious... I use 3.4.191.
Regarding Goering's flyboys... I did 4,5 years in the signals, maybe they don't like me
Okie dokie: I've downloaded the SAL file from post # 1 above and loaded it into TOAW, grabbed a screenshot of a planned attack ( on hex 163,131 I believe ) and executed the attacks, then closed the game and put the sal file, the screenshot and the sitrep_log file into a smallish zip file and posted it on my favorite file server:
The game no longer said that 100% of my turn would be consumed and after the attacks I still had 70% of my turn left ???? I still don't know what happened to cause the message 100% of the turn would be gone........AND I don't know why it worked THIS time. I'm over my head here I guess.
I get this 100%-of-turn-used message almost everytime I start assigning attacks. I open the attack planner and cycle backward through all the attacks and then close the attack planner, (changing nothing at all). The game freezes over for about 20 seconds and then after the game unfreezes the status line will change back to 10% of game will be used instead of 100%. It's kind of spooky.

When I set up an attack (both using the planner and outside the planner) I check the estimated turn usage message on the bottom of the screen, and glance at the clock. I've noticed that sometimes when I cancel an attack (last time this happened, the estimate was 40% of turn to be used in the attack), the message does not reset, nor does the clock. I've checked, and cancelled ALL scheduled attacks -- I would still see that estimate for 40% or whatever.
I've tried cancelling all attacks, saving the game, and shutting down the PC. Coming back, and reloading, the estimate turn usage is still that incorrect 40% or whatever figure -- at least, the estimate is robust.
I have gone on and played through a turn when this happens -- make sure all attacks are cancelled, then very carefully make ratios of MP used/MP original for all attacking and supporting units, round down, and skip those with low ratios. So I can hand and spreadsheet calculate this, but it would be a real pain in larger scenarios.
And when I resolve the battles, the battles take close to my estimates, not that earlier incorrect estimate.
And then the display is correctly resolved as is the clock.
My guess is that the display is not being cleared when I cancel an attack. This is intermittent, and it may be that I am not going into the planner to cancel attacks, but I have not confirmed this.
I do not recall running into this in any other 3.4 beta -- except 201.
And just to be clear -- I am not complaining about the actual combat resolution being different than the estimate. I am seeing a display not freshing after a cancel of an attack.
Anyone else noticing this ? or have any ideas about what is going on ?

Thank you for your post ogar. I too am using 3.4.201 and haven't noticed this problem before. I'm pretty sure it's new to the 201 beta version. Sometimes I'll find a helicopter with 0 movement points left that I assigned to an attack and that will give me a 100% result. But when I cancel it's assignment sometimes the 100% stays. I actually have to go into the attack planner and cycle backward through all the attacks, changing nothing, etc. to clear the 100% figure, as described in my post above. I too have no idea why this is happening.
So going into the Planner, and going back through ALL potential attacks, changing nothing, but just loading the potential attack, does clear it ?
Man, I hate the new Planner with all those potential attacks anyway; just clutters stuff up IMNHO, but them's the breaks. At least I may have a way to clear that display now.
Here's what I am encountering :
using version 3.4.201
I see inaccurate displays of Planned Combat values in the message shown in the bottom bar. I think the value displayed for Planned Combat is always identical to the value displayed Turn Used. Turn Used values appear accurate, as far as I can tell.
I first noticed this when Planned Combat would show a value of 60% or 40%, and I tried cancelling the combat. The planned combat was cancelled, but the display did not refresh.
I now think that the displayed Planned Combat value is _always_ equal to the displayed Turn Used value.
I did 2 quick tests using France 44 Cobra playing as Allies vs German PO.
Test 1 :
8 RCT /4 US ID attack 33,44 at LL w/ supporting units per default settings
Planned Combat 0%
Turn Used 0%
All stars gold on round clock
resolve combat...
90% turn remains
round clock re-displays to show 10% of stars greyed out
Planned combat 10%
Turn Used 10% is displayed in the bottom bar.
I closed that game. And started another, Cobra, again as Allies.
Test 2:
1/VIII Corps 2/VIII Corps shell 31 43 at LL; no ground assault
Planned Combat 0%
Turn Used 0%
All stars gold on round clock
resolve comabt
80% turn remains
round clock shows 20% stars greyed out
Planned Combat 20%
Turned Used 20%
I do not use the Attack Planner very much, so I cannot speak to what's showing for gold boxes vs grey boxes, etc. within the planner. That _may_ need to be investigated, or it might just be that it is only the display variable in the message in the bottom bar is showing the turn used value.
I have not found a way to clear this message. I've tried Larry's fix -- cycling through all potential combats in the planner -- but this does not work when you cancel the combat outside the planner, and I suspect, it does not work for any cancelled bombardment or air strike.
Hope this provides enough info for further investigation. I'll be away/offline for a few days so please be patient if I do not respond quickly.

The numbers you posted are as they should be. The "Planned Combat" figure always includes the "Turn Used" figure. So it will always be at least as much as that.
The numbers Planned Combat and Turn Used posted in my example above, are at the beginning of the following round.
In 3.2.29.27, 3.4.173, 3.4.191, I ran the same tests --
after each combat, at the beginning of the following round, I saw
Planned Combat 0%
Turn Used 20%
When I use 3.4.201, at the completion of combat, the value for Planned Combat is not cleared and reset to 0 in the message bar. The number of stars greyed out in the rounds clock is equal to the sum of percentages in turn used plus planned combat so when Planned Combat is displaying 20% -- at the beginning of a round, with no combat scheduled -- then the rounds clock display is also incorrect.
From what I've tested, inside the attack planner, the number of gold squares is correct, the number of grey squares is correct -- so in the above examples, in round 2, with no combat planned, I would see 2 grey squares (turn used), and of course, as I selected units, I would see 1 or more gold squares (depending on the unit.)
Again, this did not happen in any of the earlier versions. And cancelling an attack, or cancelling all attacks does not clear or reset the display of the values in version 201.

Ok, I hadn't seen that. But, while it is different than it was, it's not exactly disinformation. Two rounds are gone.
I still don't see what Larry was complaining about: a late unit caused a 100% number, and clearing that unit didn't reset that number.
