Wishlist, War in the East

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Wishlist, War in the East

Here are some things that I think would add to the immersion of WITE. Not sure what is possible of course.

1) Have units stay displayed on the map during the AI's turn. As it is now all units disappear for a short time before the resolution takes place. It's very easy to lose focus while the units are gone especially when they do show up again the action starts fast and furious and leaves no time to study where everyone is.

2) Be able to zoom and possibly scroll during the AI's turn resolution.
2b) Be able to pause the game during the AI's turn and allowing one to study the units during that time.

3) Highlight the scrolled over field when on various info screens. Many of the screens hold a plethora of stats in a very large field that jumbles the eyes(i.e. Commanders Report, Production etc..). A nice highlight along the row and/or column moused over would greatly ease differentiating the stats IMO.

4) Replace the mud/snow map graphics. A great looking map deserves better.

I want some way to play 4vs4 PBEM in the future...

Player 1 Supreme Comander doing the production/research and assign of troops/objetives between each front sector
Player 2 Comander of North Sector
Player 3 Comander of Center Sector
Player 4 Comander of Southern Sector.

That's 4 players for each country...

It's a way of micro management reduction... Divide and Conquer!.
Each Player will need a lot less time to make a turn... everybody wins!

I will be happy even if this mode of 4vs4 players PBEM can be done only via Central Server.

A detail but IMO important:

5. Add decimal separators to numbers and remove non significant decimals. This will make numbers easier to read.

How much is this 5478563 ? not easy to read, right ? it's 5 millions. 5 478 563

What is that 54.21 ? it's 54.

Thank you ;-)

6. Add more options for CV and movement display on counters/in the counter sidebar. I would prefer to see ATTACK CV = DEFENCE CV - MOVEMENT on the counters at all times, and I think there would be enough room for this.

Hi,

as posted in another thread. No default all select when clicking on stack, double click select all stack. This would raise satisfaction even more [&o]

7. the "back to previous screen" button when browsing the OOB. It was already mentioned but to be sure the idea won't be lost, better to write it again here :-)

On C-V displays I'd like it if the max movement of any unit in the stack wasn't always displayed on the top unit. I'd also like to toggle between showing total combat value on the stack, and the top unit's individual combat value. Toggling between CV display and unit name/number would be helpful too.

Another feature already mentioned in another thread by other user is that it would be very helpfull if we would have "display only HQ" toggle button. Again [&o].
