D/L speed is just total crap !!!

Sorry Matrix guys, but I think Plimus uses decommissioned 286 servers... I just bought the game, my ADSL goes up to 1MB/Sec, and the game download speed is a steady... 15-25 KB/sec, estimated time 8 hours!!![>:]

I hear you - the thing is I'm sure this is not an issue on the server side. They definitely do not have a shortage of bandwidth, but it may be that the rout from the server to you is much more clogged than usual or a worse route than you had to to the DR servers. Do you know how to do a traceroute? If so, try one to the download server and see what it says.

I should add that canceling and restarting the download may help at times if it goes by a different route, or to a different server.

I D/L earlier in about 15min time. Saw a few slow downs but it sped right back up again.

Sorry I don't know how to trace with Win7, I vaguely remember DOS commands that aren't supported anymore... I wonder how the route may be that bad, unless it goes thru Somalia or such. I very often download software, music, etc, and never had that bad a speed with US servers, or even with Filefront or Rapidshare !
Retrying 5 times give the same crap speed? I'm lost...

I don't know - it may just be that the route between you and the server is that bad right now. Can you e-mail me at erikr@matrixgames.com? I can at least get the network engineers to investigate tomorrow when they are in, to make sure there is no problem in general with serving downloads to your location.

Apologies there were problems on my side... My max speed was down to 2MB/sec instead of 10, and ping was horrible (70 ms instead of 10 on tests). Rebooted the router, I'm now up to normal max speed and d/l resumed at 100-150KB/sec. Not very good but bearable...
