Display Resolution

The Seven Years’ War was fought across the globe and called by some the first “World War” as virtually every major power participated. In the center of events was Prussia, almost constantly at war and lead by the now legendary Frederick the Great.

Relive the exciting and trying days of Frederick the Great in Horse and Musket: Volume I, the improved and expanded combination of the previous Prussian War Machine and Prussia’s Glory titles. Horse and Musket: Volume I is a reboot of the successful Horse and Musket series, including not only two solid historical titles in one package, but also many new game features, a powerful new editor, and a complete graphics overhaul to an already acclaimed gaming system.

Display Resolution

Post by canuckgamer »

I had posted this question in an existing thread but no replies. As I am thinking of buying this during the Xmas Sale I thought it might help if I started a new thread. I have a 22" monitor with a native resolution of 1680 X 1050. Can Horse and Musket Vol. I be displayed at this resolution? Thank you in advance.

I buy the game yesterday and i can say that in my 22, at the 1680x1050 texts are bad to read, small and break... is the only problem with the game, really need work in this part because the game only have 3D display... with a 2D only the text remains as a problem, need be more clear, bigger text is a solution.

Hi there,

I just bought this game having read all the good things about it. But it looks terrible on my system and I think I won't have patience to play it, so I wasted my money. Is it possible to change the screen resolution? And if so, will this help improve the graphics? I tried running it in windowed mode but it hasn't improved things noticably. For me, the worst thing is the units on the main battle screen - just gives me a headache looking at them - would be better in 2D. The screen shots posted above look just like my experience of the game. The graphics need to be sharper, clearer. Sorry to be negative but I'm disappointed with the graphics.

Hi There,

I'm sorry to complain - I really want to like this game more. I installed the latest patch, I run the game in windowed mode. I installed the game on both desktop and laptop. I have played through a couple of battles against the AI (winning both, although I'm a newbie and haven't read the manual). For me the graphics are a big problem - too pixelated, too fuzzy. Once the two sides come to contact I no longer know which army is which. I'm not asking for super modern graphics - just clear, clean graphics. I improved the text a bit by changing the font to Arial (many thanks for this tip). But I didn't really enjoy the game or get immersed in it - it's too hard on my eyes! Sorry about comments - I'm not a bad guy, just disappointed.

I play true eyes killer games in a CRT monitor (i kill it last summer hehehe) but this game... is a "3D" game (not counters in a classic 2D map) with animations and other things and i see excesive pixels, even i remember "Fields of Glory" with good graphics... but the true problem is with the texts, is really [8D] and dont provide a way to change resolution... but the game is great.

Hello PrinzHeinrich and many thanks for this. OK, with your help I have managed to get this game looking good enough to play. Here's what I have done:
1. Play game on laptop (smaller screen than my desktop)
2. Play in windowed mode
3.Change text font to Arial
4. Use SARGE's textures - this made the biggest visual difference
And so I am happy to say that the game looks much better and I look forward to some good battles.
